Here are some ways I can promote prosocial and intercultural communication among students as a future educator: 1. Create a welcoming classroom environment that values diversity and cultural understanding. Display materials that represent different cultures and hold activities to learn about each other's backgrounds. 2. Explicitly teach social-emotional skills like empathy, respect, conflict resolution and cooperation. Model these skills in interactions and provide opportunities for students to practice them. 3. Incorporate multicultural topics and perspectives into lessons to increase cultural awareness. Assign group projects that require collaborating with students from different backgrounds. 4. Establish clear norms for respectful communication and address harmful behaviors like bullying immediately. Mediate conflicts respectfully to find mutual understanding

Let’s Check
Activity 1. With the knowledge on globalization and multicultural literacy, choose one
national/ global issue from a reading material (simply write its main idea and source)
then decide how it can help you become part of the global community.

Environmental problems of Third World cities: a global issue ignored?

This article discusses the large size and variety of environmental issues in Third
World cities, focusing on the effects on human health. This article summarizes the
issues from a range of regional scales, such as the person, area, to the nation, and
then examines them from a larger scale. Also, it talks about the overall connection
between city development and use, and environmental destruction is addressed in the
course. One of the most significant issues has been a failure to provide water, solid
waste collection, insufficient hygiene, and chemical emissions regulation. The second
half presents some observations. Cities with a higher concentration of poverty often
have environmental problems. Local governments have almost little support for
handling more serious issues but can assist Third World nations. Simultaneously,
citizens' organizations are non-government organizations in most countries that have
shown themselves to be decisive in acting as a force for change. However, with the
absence of municipal participation and the lack of civil and nongovernmental
community intervention, these questions will not be dealt with.
I choose this particular issue due to differing beliefs about the Earth's most
critical environmental issues, people from the southern hemisphere are also hostile to
one another. If the North wishes to work with the South on international matters, it
should support specific issues which have the most significant effect on the people's
well-being.

Let’s Analyze
Activity 1. Compose your thoughts in a journal on how globalization generally affects
the people’s way of life in your own local community.

March 22, 2021

As I have entered a new term of the class 2021, it is also time to face new subjects
and teachers, which will give me some headache, back pain, and stress for the whole
term. However, learning becomes more fun if those headaches will lead us to
accomplishments that paid-off our hardships. Pandemic online learning has been
implemented globally, and advances in technology have improved individuals'
worldwide movement, education, money, and commodities through better transport
and communication networks. Today more and more people can communicate easily
with others on the other side of the world due to the development of the internet and
mobile phones.

In a sense, globalization impacts us more than you may believe. Was it not for our
possessions' increased connectivity, much of the luxury products we have today may
be much less approachable and cost more money? It is also a benefit to us in all other
ways. Both workers in the secondary and mainly tertiary industries are connected to
globalization now, with many of them having links rest of the world. Globalization has
promoted international migration, as well as it has diversifying global communities and
also expanded the number of multicultural cultures.

However, on the other hand, globalization is having a detrimental effect on us. These
activities also contributed to an extension of traffic and a change in polluting sectors,
resulting in environmental deterioration. Widespread pollution is the deoxygenation of
the planet, which has detrimental impacts on the general population's wellbeing.
Changes in the type of transportation have led to a higher release of carbon dioxide,
carbon monoxide, and other greenhouse gases. These pollutants are accelerating
climate change leading to enhanced frequency and severity.
In a Nutshell

Activity 1. Based from the definitions given by the expert, formulate your own
definition of the word globalization and multicultural literacy.

Globalization refers to the world's economies, societies, and communities are

becoming more integrated due to trade in products and services and capital and
investment and knowledge flows.

Multicultural Literacy refers to the willingness to recognize and respect nuances in

the traditions and another's culture.

Let’s Check
Instruction: Below are examples of situations, check the corresponding box if the
response is aggressive, passive, or assertive.

Let’s Analyze
Activity 1. Analyze the given scenario, and then answer the following questions.

Scenario A. A close friend calls and shares how she was having a pretty awful day.
She failed a subject, lost her wallet with her school’s tuition in it, and was dumped by
her romantic partner. After telling you all of these, she pauses and waits for you to say
something.

What will you say to her?

First, I will console her by saying things like "it's good," "there would still be
another day," and similar phrases. I may say soothing things while concerning her
previous topic to encourage her to do better. Additionally, I would remind her to save
her money safe and have it to hand the next time she has to see them lessen the
chance of losing it. She doesn't waste her future boyfriend's time, so I would let her
sob before she feels better. By the way, it's a shame that today is terrible for her, just
not just an experience to be avoided for the rest of her life.
In what way will your words benefit her? Benefit you?

I am somebody who looks at something in the light of all possibilities. When you
look at anything from a certain point of view, you will discover aspects and dynamics
that were overlooked before. I don't the only comfort my friend, but I also advise and
help her identify her errors. Firstly, I spoke to her softly and positively; then, I
recognized the mistakes she had made. Thus, it can be concluded that the advantage
she gains from that would be one of these two: reassurance and education. I want to
provide my daughter with a framework to find some solace in using those methods. I
can now assert anything I say as applying to me, I might have hope for. My knowledge
of problem-solving allows me to handle any things accurately or correctly. it also
assisted me in acquiring new and relevant knowledge about the outside world as well
as providing an opportunity to better coping strategies for my depressive and anxiety
issues.

Scenario B. You mentioned to your best friend that you are feeling depressed lately
and are thinking of quitting college

What do you want to hear from him/her?

First and foremost, I want her to listen to me carefully, without doing anything.
Then, I'd like her to tell me about the time she expanded. She would be able to
understand. After that, I want her to ask me how I arrived at this stage. Finally, I want
her to have a scenario that can help me discover what I must do. He will make a lot of
money.

How will his/her words benefit you? Benefit him/her?

A buddy who wished to support others had the joy of doing something positive
to their lives and making a difference. Similarly, she might use what she's said about
me if I find myself in a similar position in the future. But I think it might help me because
it might be helpful to me. Furthermore, it helped me remember, as well as supported
me with warmth. The thing is, it was rendered more bearable when I was able to
express my dilemma, so now I can bear it better. It's such a wonderful opportunity to
have someone in life who can care and assist in this manner, so both of us will prosper,
but it's not for the same purpose.
