Safety Precautions
Microwave
High-power radio frequency signals are harmful. Avoid exposure to transmissions from the antenna of
PG cover
microwave equipment that has this radiation warning symbol ( ). When you are installing or performing
maintenance on an antenna located on a tower that has multiple antennas, avoid exposure to radiation from Cap
other antennas.

protective gloves if you must handle the RTN 380. A high-temperature warning label ( ) is attached to
the RTN 380. To prevent water vapor from accumulating inside the device:
• Power on the equipment within 24 hours of unpacking.
• During maintenance, the power-off time of the equipment cannot be longer than 24 hours.
Corrosion
Anti-corrosion measures are required if the RTN 380 is installed in an area prone to corrosion. Contact your
Huawei representative office for details. A location is corrosion-prone if it is:
• within 3.7 km of the ocean or a salt water lake
• within 3 km of a heavy pollution source such as a smelting factory or coal mine
• within 2 km of a medium pollution source such as a chemical, rubber, or electroplating plant
• within 1 km of a light pollution source such as a food/leather processing plant or heating boilers

Safety Precautions
Avoiding leaving any Ethernet service cable unconnected Power over Ethernet (Networked with the RTN 900)
Do not leave any Ethernet service cable unconnected (see Figure 1).
If an Ethernet service port is not in use, remove the cable from it and fasten a PG cover or protective cover onto it.

Precautions for Local Maintenance
When the RTN 380 is installed on a self-supporting tower, maintenance personnel cannot performance off-tower
maintenance through WLAN, because the RTN 380 is installed at a high position. You can use the following methods to Figure 1
solve this issue:
• If an NE receives/transmits services through the P&E port, use an outdoor network cable to connect the NE's GE
electrical port and the PI's MGMT port. During the off-tower maintenance, connect a laptop on which the Web LCT is
installed to the PI's NMS port, or remove the outdoor network cable connected to the MGMT port and connect the
cable to the laptop. See Figure 1.
• If an NE receives/transmits services through the GE optical port, no extra outdoor network cable is required. During
RTN 380
the off-tower maintenance, connect a laptop on which the Web LCT is installed to the GE port of the PI. See Figure 2.
In the off-tower maintenance, configure the GE electrical port to which the Web LCT is connected as an NMS port on the P&E port
NMS, or configure the network adapter of the laptop to receive and transmit IP packets carrying DCN VLAN IDs.

2. Before installing the RTN 380, remove the protective cover and film on the antenna port. Otherwise, the signal transmission will be affected.
3. Different methods can be used to change the polarization direction of antennas. If the method provided in this document is not suitable for the type of antenna you have, use the method provided in the installation manual delivered with your antennas.

B Important Notes
• Alignment scopes are high-precision devices for alignment. Before an aiming telescope leaves the factory, parts
between the eye lens tube and the prism table as well between the objective lens tube and the prism table have

undergone necessary anti-loosing treatments. Any rotating operation or disassembly among the eye lens tube,
objective lens tube, and prism table will weaken or even eliminate the effect of the treatments.
• The fitting surface of the aiming telescope is treated by the grinding process, which ensures the coaxiality of the
fitting surface‘s normal direction and the alignment scope’s optical axis. Carefully protect the fitting surface from any Use M6 hex socket

• As the support plate is closely fitted with the objective lens tube with a locking ring, the locking ring needs to be support rods A and B.
loosened if you attempt to rotate the objective lens tube for adjustment. After the adjustment is complete, Support
immediately tighten the locking ring to prevent redundant substances from entering the fitting space. It is advised to plate
loosen the locking ring less than one circle.
• To loosen the locking ring, grasp the objective lens tube tightly with one hand, and grasp and rotate the locking ring
with the other hand. Avoid applied moment between the prism table and the locking ring. • Install only support rod A for a 0.2 m or 0.3 m antenna.
• Avoid removing the support plate from the objective lends tube. • Install both support rods A and B for a 0.6 m or larger antenna.
