Restrictions on the installation environment

No. Item Description
1. The RTN 380 cannot be installed on a light pole or utility pole.
2. The RTN 380 with only a 0.3 m antenna can be installed on a guyed tower, and the antenna must be installed
no higher than 1/2 of the tower height.
RTN 380 module 3. Even if the requirements for link reliability can be met and the equipment installation environment allows
1
equipment to run properly in any weather conditions (the sway angle and twist angle of towers and poles meet
requirements), use rooftop towers, thin mast towers, and common self-supporting towers (non-high towers)
with caution based on the local actual situations.
Restrictions on the installation on a rooftop upright pole
When installing RTN 380 on a rooftop upright pole, ensure that:
2 Auxiliary material package 1. The diameters of antennas are no more than 0.6 m.
2. A mono-rooftop mast is supported by three stress support bars. The angle between the stress support bars is
90ºor 120º. This ensures that the mast can resist 28 m/s wind (force 10 wind) and do not sway or twist in the
wind.
3. Only one microwave antenna is installed on one pole.
4. A pole is supported by two side support bars to ensure that the pole does not sway or twist in the wind.
3 7.6 mm-wide outdoor binding strap 5. A pole is not higher than 6 m.
6. An antenna is not installed on the top of a pole. An antenna should be installed at a lower position that is close
to the support point. Antenna mounting brackets are fastened.
7. If the diameter of an antenna is 0.3 m, the antenna is used only at the last hop.
8. If the diameter of an antenna is 0.6 m, stress support bars are required to secure the pole for installing the
antenna and the antenna must be installed close to the point of strength of the stress support bars on the pole.
9. Installation height: A 0.6 m antenna is installed no higher than 1/2 of the pole height, and a 0.3 m antenna is

Installing the RTN 380

5 Networked with the RTN 900

1. Cover unused ports with caps. Reserve the removed caps. Before installing the RTN 380, remove the protective cover and film on the antenna port. Otherwise, the signal transmission will be affected.
2. Different methods can be used to change the polarization direction of antennas. If the method provided in this document is not suitable for the type of antenna you have, use the method provided in the installation manual delivered with your antennas.
3. The polarization direction of antennas is vertical by default. If the planned polarization direction is horizontal, change the polarization direction to horizontal.
4. If an antenna with a diameter of 0.3 m or 0.6 m is used in a direct mount and 1+0 scenario, you may install the RTN 380 on the antenna and then hoist them both into position on the tower.
5. Before installing a cable, bind the cable section linking the cable connector to the pole. This will protect the cable connector from damage. Be sure that the length of cable running from the binding point to the RTN 380 is sufficient to attach the cable connector to the
service port on the RTN 380.

Installing the Ground Clip Laying out Cables

Requirements for laying out cables outdoors

Select an installation position and remove a section of the cable sheath with a box cutter. Do
not damage the shield layer. • Route cables along the planned path, use outdoor cable ties or feeder clamps to bind cables properly and neatly at
intervals of about 1 m, and cut off the excess of each cable tie without leaving sharp edges (ensuring a slack of
about 5 mm).
• Drip loops must be made for outdoor cables below ports or near feeder windows and ensure a bend radius equal to
or greater than the required minimum bend radius.
• After you form a drip loop in a cable, coil the cable into a roll with the diameter greater than 0.6 m (1.97 feet) and
bind the roll to the tower or pole for future use.
• Check whether there is a probability that outdoor cables will be damaged by external environmental factors. If yes,
you are advised to protect outdoor cables, for example, by putting the cables through tubes.
• The cables to be protected consist of power cables, outdoor network cables, and outdoor fibers.

Install and waterproof the ground clip. (See the appendix.)

Outdoor cable ties may be damaged due to installation and environmental factors. You are recommended to use feeder
clamps in high-temperature and dry environments or in freezing cold environments.

B Important Notes

• Alignment scopes are high-precision devices for alignment. Before an aiming telescope leaves the factory, parts
between the eye lens tube and the prism table as well between the objective lens tube and the prism table have

undergone necessary anti-loosing treatments. Any rotating operation or disassembly among the eye lens tube,
objective lens tube, and prism table will weaken or even eliminate the effect of the treatments.
• The fitting surface of the aiming telescope is treated by the grinding process, which ensures the coaxiality of the
fitting surface‘s normal direction and the alignment scope’s optical axis. Carefully protect the fitting surface from any Use M6 hex socket

loosened if you attempt to rotate the objective lens tube for adjustment. After the adjustment is complete, Support
immediately tighten the locking ring to prevent redundant substances from entering the fitting space. It is advised to plate
loosen the locking ring less than one circle.
• To loosen the locking ring, grasp the objective lens tube tightly with one hand, and grasp and rotate the locking ring
with the other hand. Avoid applied moment between the prism table and the locking ring. • Install only support rod A for a 0.2 m or 0.3 m antenna.
• Avoid removing the support plate from the objective lends tube. • Install both support rods A and B for a 0.6 m or larger antenna.
