Chapter 4 – Assessing Student Learning Outcomes


Course Outcomes
At the end of the topic, the students must have:
1. Clarified the principles in assessing learning outcomes
2. Explained the phase of outcomes assessment
3. Determined the alignment of learning outcomes and assessment tasks
4. Discussed various assessment methods, tools and tasks, including portfolio
5. Constructed a scoring rubric
6. Given sample assessment tasks for each MI
7. Explained at least 3 key features of assessment in the K to 12 program

PRETEST

Determine whether or not the assessment task is aligned with the learning outcomes. On the third column
(REMARKS) on the table below, write the word “Aligned” if the assessment task is aligned with the learning
outcomes and improve your assessment task if not by writing a new assessment tasks you think is best for the
learning outcomes.

2. Constructed paper-and-pencil tests in accordance with the guidelines in test construction

PRETEST

a. Look for 3 different samples of Table of Specification (TOS) used by schools under DepEd and universities
under CHED.
b. Cite 5 examples of selected response type of test and 5 examples of constructed response type of test.
c. Formulate one restricted essay and one extended essay test item. Provide a scoring rubric for each essay
item test.
