1. What is the importance of Dance in the field of arts? What about in society?

 Through dance, students learn teamwork, concentration and improvisation skills.


Dance awakens new insights in children that help them learn and think in new
ways. Children need to express and communicate their ideas and have the
opportunity to make creative decisions, even from a young age. Dance also
benefits society because it is a form of entertainment. If a dance requires us to
move our bodies in a way we've never done before, we may discover something
new about how our bodies function. By doing couple dances, people can also
learn how well they work with others.

2. What is the significance of Drama and Theater Arts in the field of arts and to its
audience?

 The performing arts are arts such as music, dance and theater that are
performed for an audience. It is different from the visual arts, which is when
artists use paint, canvas or various materials to create physical or static art
objects. The performing arts include a variety of disciplines that are performed in
front of a live audience, including theater, music, and dance. Theater, music,
dance and manipulation of objects, and other types of representations are
present in all human cultures.

3. What is the relevance of Literature in creating art? What is its significance to the
society?

Literature is an art that shares a story and develops a theme for the audience.
While it may be an isolated art form, it is also closely related to other art forms.
Music is similar to poetry in pattern and rhythm. It can also reflect the same
social concerns as literature and often represents a moment in history. For most
people around the world, our first serious encounter with literature comes from
school. Reading and writing have been instilled in all of us from an early age and
this begins with the start of exams.

DISTINCTIONS: Point out the difference of each pair of terms from the other. Give
direct but substantial answers. Cite some examples.

1. Ethnic Dance vs. Folk Dance


A folk dance a form of social dancing which became a part of a certain customs and
traditions of people.  For example, ritual dances or dances of ritual origin are not
considered to be folk dances.
An ethnic dance is the another which dance formed originating from an ethnic culture
that expresses the aesthetics of a particular culture. Example tinikling a Philippine folk
dance that originated in Leyte.
2. Drama as a Script vs. Drama as a Play
A drama is a script that can be read on its own without the need for space, actors or
other artistic support for example radio drama.
Drama as play written for theater, television, and film. In simple words, a drama is a
composition in verse or prose presenting a story in pantomime or dialogue for example
musical drama.

3. The Playwright vs. The Director

Playwright is a writer and creator of theatrical plays William Shakespeare is


an example of a playwright.

 director is one who directs the person in charge of managing a


department or directorate for example, a director of finance, a director of
operations, and a director of human resources.

4. Essay vs. Short Story

An essay is, generally, a piece of writing that gives the author's own argument,
but the definition is vague, overlapping with those of a letter, a paper, an article, a
pamphlet, and a short story. For example, narrative essay means you’re telling a
story from a certain viewpoint, and there is usually a reason for the telling. 

A short story is a piece of prose fiction that typically can be read in one sitting and
focuses on a self-contained incident or series of linked incidents, with the intent of
evoking a single effect or mood. For example, Dead Stars by Paz Marquez

5. Prose vs. Poetry

Prose refers to a form of literature, having ordinary language and sentence


structure. example of prose writing, as is most human conversation, textbooks,
lectures, novels, short stories, fairy tales, newspaper articles, and essays.

literary work in which special intensity is given to the expression of feelings and
ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm; poems collectively or as a genre
of literature. For example Haiku A type of Japanese poem consisting of three
unrhymed lines, with mostly five, seven, and five syllables in each line
