Aquatic games with balls

Water volleyball
Water volleyball (also called pool and aqua volleyball) is a competitive middle-court oriented
water game.[1] It can be played between two teams, each team consisting of 1 to 4 players, depending
on the area of water in which the game is being played.

Water volleyball has emerged from recreational pool activities, sports, aquatic clubs, water
parks, through the practice of unification of the beach and water tournaments. In the 1990s, Disney
water parks had pool volleyball entertainment. DLRG- Ortsgruppe Havixbeck, has organized first water
volley tournament in 1985, creating by-so water volleyball club.

Mechanics:
a. Water volleyball is played between two teams, usually consisting of 1 to 4 players.

b. One team is chosen to serve first, whereupon they serve twice, then the team which did not serve
first serves twice, and play continues in this fashion. The winner is first team to score eleven points.
However, if the score gets to 10 apiece, then the team to score either two points ahead of the other
team, or else first to fifteen points, wins the game. There are usually 5 games in a match.

c. The first team to reach 11 points wins. If the score reaches 10 apiece, then it is first team to by 2
points or first to 15 points.

d. The server must hit the ball upwards, towards the receiver and it must be within arm’s length of the
receiver when standing still. The serve is not allowed to be a spike and the receiver cannot spike of the
serve. One team serves for 2 points then the other team serves, and play continues in this fashion.
When it is 10 apiece, you start serving 1 serve each. A flip of a coin at the start of the game is used to
see who serves first, or else the person in the deep end serves first.

Hit the Bobbing Head

1
Mechanics:

a. Start off with a bang with this game that will get everybody riled up.
b. The number of players should 5 or more.
c. One player stands in the center holding a ball or a soft paddle. Other players surround him and stay
underwater. If anybody bobs their head up, the middle player needs to whack it with the paddle.

Ping Pong Catch

Mechanics:
a. Take advantage of ping pong balls floating on water to make a new game
b. Number of players should 5 to 10 persons.
c. Let all players stand on one edge of the pool.
d. Throw the ping pong balls in random areas of the pool and let everyone swim to catch them. The one
who catches the most is the winner.

Fish in The Middle

2
Mechanics:
a. This game can get quickly exhausting but that’s because it is just so much fun.
b. Number of Players should 3 to 6 persons.
c. An equal number of players are to be present on each side and in the middle.
d. The edge players pass a ball between them, the middle players need to intercept it.
e. When they do, they switch places with the ones who threw the ball.

Bobbing Heads

Mechanics:
a. Number of Players should 4 persons.
b. This game needs foam ball or beach ball.
c. Imagine whack-a-mole but in a pool, where the hammer is a player in control of throwing balls at the
moles.
d. The moles are of course the other players who must avoid being hit by the ball. When a player is hit,
they must sit out for the round.
e. Last player standing becomes the new “hammer”.

Bumper Balls

3
Mechanics:
a. Number of Players should 2 persons.
b. This game needs beach balls and rope.
c. First designate a small area in the pool as “the arena”. Section off the arena using the rope.
d. Players then enter the arena, each holding a beach ball.
e. The object of the game is to bump other players into the rope using only the beach ball. If a player
touches the rope, they must sit out until the end of the round.
f. The last player standing wins the round. Play for fun or go for a full tournament.

Numbers Crunch

Mechanics:
a. Number of Players should 2 or more persons.
b. This game needs 20-30 ping pong balls and permanent marker.
c. Using the marker, number each ping pong with a point value, then scatter them across the pool.
d. Divide players into two teams. On “Go”, players jump into the pool and race to collect ping pong balls
for their team.
e. Players can only carry one ball at a time and must place it in their team’s basket to score before
grabbing another one.
f. Once all of the ping pong balls have been collected, tally up the scores. The team with the highest
score wins.

want water balloons that are a bit bigger so they break easily (but not so easily they break when you
throw it).

go then throw water balloons at each other from their side of the yard.

balloon actually breaks, they are out and have to sit on the sideline.

4.If they get hit by a water balloon but it just bounces off them and doesn’t break, they can pick up that
balloon and keep playing. Or if you want, you can say if it hits them, they’re out.

5.If someone catches a water balloon thrown at them, the person who threw it is out and the person
who caught the water balloon can bring someone back in from the sideline who was previously out.

6. If the water balloon breaks while they’re trying to catch it, the person who tried to catch the balloon
is out.

Win: The team who has the last person standing on their team wins.

Adult Version: Balloons must actually break on the players; they can’t just hit people.
