ASSESSMENT METHODS IN DL
Assessment Method How to Adapt the Assessment Method in DL
Formative Test Conduct assessment using the SLM formative assessment test that
the learners may access on the latter part of the module.
Performance Test A performance test will be utilized in the assessment of specialized
learning skills competencies like arts, ICT and other relevant
competencies. This will be done by sending illustrations of the
product/output the learners have accomplished.
Summative and Periodical Test Summative and Periodical Test will be given to the learners at the
end of every quarter, following DepEd Order No 8, s. 2015

1. What assessment methods are common among the group members?

 Formative assessment is the most common among our group since all learners will be
provided with SLM.

2. What are the challenges in doing assessment in DL?

 The challenges in doing assessment in DL are the validity of the answers of the learners
specially in the conduct of summative and periodical test. Since this is a distance learning
most of the students are performing independent learning. The virtue of honesty and
integrity must always be reminded to the learners.

3. Despite the challenges, what opportunities can you and your colleagues explore to make
assessment doable in DL?
 We will make collaborative efforts to the parents, parateacher and the subject teachers to
make the assessment doable.

Part B
Please provide the information requested.

1. The best part of the session (i.e. what went well):

During the discussion, LAC members clearly understood that they need to collaborate
with other learning area teachers and need to agree on the schedule of the learning tasks
for their respective learning area. Ma’am Hazelle D. Taroy was the third presenter. She was
assigned to discuss Module 3B: Learning Resources. Ma’am Taroy taught how to access
learning resources from DepEd portals and various portals. Since Ma’am Calamlam is the
school’s ICT coordinator, she explained on how to access on the DepEd portals like DepEd
Commons using accounts.
After familiarizing on LR portals and the resources available for teachers and for
learners, Ma’am Taroy discussed on how to assess the LRs in terms of their relevance to the
lessons and to the learners. She introduced some steps that can take to ensure the
relevance and usefulness of each LR as well as other issues that can come with the learning
resource. She showed the LR Rapid Assessment Tool to the group.

2. Problems or challenges encountered and how they were resolved:

After the discussion, each member of the group talked about the issues that they
encountered in the materials they have encountered before. LAC Facilitator gathered
members’ concerns, insights on assessing LRs and suggestions as to how they can address
LR quality.

3. Other topics discussed apart from the recommended topics, if any:

After finishing all the Modules, Ma’am Maricar Dela Peña facilitated an open forum.
During the open forum, LAC Members asked number of questions. Sir Paloma together with
the assigned presenters in each module answered each question in detailed and cleared
response.

4. Recommendations/Plans for next LAC session:

The Part II of the LAC session for modules 4-5 will be discussed after lunch 1:00 pm to 5:00
pm

RAPID ASSESSMENT OF LEARNING RESOURCES
