Determine The Magnitude of Statistical Variates at Some Future Point of Time

This document contains a student's responses to questions about statistics. It discusses topics like descriptive vs inferential statistics, types of variables, research processes, and comparing dependent vs independent variables. The student identifies several variables as qualitative or quantitative. They also indicate the level of measurement for different variables as nominal, ordinal, interval or ratio. Finally, the student identifies whether various data examples are continuous or discrete.

Output Number 2

Part 1: I.

1. Statistics – It refers to numerical facts.

2. Descriptive Statistics – It tell something about the particular group of observation.
3. Inferential Statistics – It is used to describe the characteristics of the target population.
4. Nominal Data - denotes labels or categories.
5. Ordinal Data - data that can be categorized and also ranked according to some kind of order.
6. Interval Data - categorized and ranked just like ordinal data, and there are equal, evenly spaced intervals between the
categories.
7. Ratio Data - categorized and ranked, and there are equal intervals between the data points.

II. Explain the following using your own words (5 points each):

1. Research process – First, we need to identify the problem, the target population and the variable in the study.
2. Types of analysis – It compose of descriptive and inferential analysis.
3. Goals of analysis - get the measure of central tendency, variance in the group, the difference and relationship within the
groups and to determine the magnitude of statistical variates at some future point of time
4. Function of variables – It is used as an observable characteristic of a person or objects being studied
5. Role of statistics in research – It used to analyze data in a research study.

III. Compare the following using your own words (5 points each):

1. Dependent variable from independent variable – Dependent Variable is expected to be affected by the independent variable
while Independent Variable is expected to affect another variable.
2. Experimental research from non-experimental research - Experimental research involve the manipulation of variables and
random assignment of participants to conditions while non-experimental research do not manipulate any variables or randomly
assign participants to a control or treatment group.
3. Population study processes from sample study processes - The population study processes is the whole set of values, or
individuals, you are interested in while sample study processes is a subset of the population, and is the set of values you actually
use in your estimation.

IV. Express your appreciations about the importance of statistics in your specific chosen course/field in not more than two (2)
sentences. (5 points)

- I appreciate statistics in the field of IT because as what it implies in the module, Statistics is related to information. One
of the example that statistics has a great help in IT field is in Data Analytics that uses statistical analysis to produce
reports.
