Course Description ​This course introduces students to writing in various genres by means of creative exercises and assignments, workshops, and 
individual conferences. May include poetry, fiction, plays, and creative non-fiction.  
Course Outcomes ​At the end of the course the students should be able to:  
1. Gain a fundamental grasp of the wide range of possibilities creative writing offers  
2. Enhance your imaginative and analytical faculties.  
3. Improve your writing,  
4. Learn to meaningfully respond to others’ writing,  
5. Dliscover new directions for your own writing.  
Course-Learning Outcomes ​1. Classify the different characteristics of good writing.  
2. Define Figurative Language, Imagery, and Sensory details as an essential factors in composing your content.  
3. Define Poetry, its forms, and Art/Music as an inspiration.  
4. Develop your communication skills by considering the proper way of choosing words to use in writing.  
5. Express your point of view in writing.  
6. Develop your theme and the the structures used in writing a short story.  
7. Identify Playwriting and how to do it.

Classroom Policies  
A. Quizzes. ​Quizzes will be carried out every after the chapter discussion. Quizzes will either be announced or unannounced. When a quiz is given and 
the student is absent, he/she will be given a grade of zero (0). Special quizzes are not allowed.  
B. Class Participation.​ Class participation is composed of ​Recitation ​or answering questions. C​ ​. ​Class Activity​. Active participation in class is highly

valued. Everybody can articulate his/her ideas without hesitation. Surprise activities should be expected from time to time. D. Failure to submit the 
requirements on time will have a corresponding deduction (daily deduction of 1 point on weekdays and 1 point on weekends (.5). ​In case that any of 
the requirements is/are not submitted, he/she will get Incomplete (INC); however, when all the requirements are not submitted, the student will 
automatically fail the course.  
E. ​Student’s behavior​. “Respect begets respect.” Observe one-mouth rule. ** Additional classroom policies may be added, presented, and agreed at 
the start of the class (semester).
