functions
B. Performance Standard: Demonstrates proper care of plants used for food and
sources of materials and other by product
C. Learning Competencies:
1. Describe the parts of different kinds of plants
2. State the importance of plants to humans.
IV. Procedure:
A. Review: Living thing and Non-living things?
B. Motivation:
Imagine your surroundings/environment without any growing plant.
Do you think human and animals can live? How do plants help
another living organism?
C. Presentation
1. Show some pictures of plants and let the pupils identify them.
2. Study the illustration.

a. The roots usually grow downwards, holds the plants to the ground
and absorbs water from the soil.
b. Stems are the extension of the roots above the ground. It holds
the leaves, flowers and fruits.
c. Leaves grow from stems. They vary in size, color and shape. It
manufactures food for the plants.
d. Flower is the most colorful part of the plant and some of them
develops into fruits.
e. Fruit is the most delicious part of a plant and some of them have
seeds.
3. Show the pupils a real plant and let them describe it.
4. State the importance of plants.
E. Group Activity
The pupils will be grouped into 3 and each group will accomplish
specific task together. Each group will follow standards.
Group 1 – Identify the parts of the plants. Write the answer on the space
provided.
Group 2 – Arrange the letters to form a word related to the parts of plants.
Group 3 – Fill in the blanks with the correct word to complete the statement.
