Teacher: Hi Student! How are you doing?


Student: I’m doing absolutely great. Thanks! How about you mam? And how are you? Are you safe during this
pandemic?
Teacher: Absolutely. I’m taking precautions. By the way, what’s new these days?
Student: Well, well, well! As usual, I’m studying for my course examination which is lined up on May 31st.
Teacher: I know the date, but don’t you think it will be extended further due to the lockdown?
Student: There are some really good chances of the examination getting postponed by at least a month. And
they should, because the studies of the aspirants have been affected to a great extent. But due to no notifications
by the GOP about the postponing of the examination, we have to be all set for May 31st only. How is the
situation of the pandemic in your city?
Teacher: There are two cases here in my city. Both the cases are still active and both were tested positive this
week itself. Since then, the administration has become very strict and people have also become very
precautious. No idea what’s going to happen in the coming days? How is the situation over there in Lahore?
Student: It is very bad, extremely bad. The positive cases are compounding rapidly. I think it will take another
1-2 months to bring the situation in total control in Lahore. Luckily, coronavirus is not as deadly as the Spanish
flu of 1918. But still, it is taking many lives.
Teacher: Very true. In fact, I just feel tensed the moment I think about countries like the USA, Italy, Spain,
Germany, France, and others. We’re still in a way better condition than those, or at least seem to be. I know the
testing rate in India is one of the lowest in the world.
Student: Let’s just hope for the best. We need to support mankind by providing all the sort of help that we can
provide while being precautious. The world economy is drowning drastically, and it will take years to recover
from this state. I just hope that things get back to normal as soon as possible.
Teacher: I also hope the same. Alrighty, I gotta go. I’ll call you later, Student! Go and do your studies and best
of luck for your examination. Bye
Student: Thanks, Teacher! Have a good day! Bye

Subject: Law and Order Situation
Dear Sir
Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, I would like to draw the attention of the concerned
authorities responsible for maintaining law and order about the fast deteriorating law and order situation in the
city.
The inhabitants of this city are going through a phase of panic due to fast deterioration of law and order.
Newspapers and Television channels are again and again reporting crime stories like rape, arson, kidnapping,
burglary and theft.
Our city is famous in the world as a tourist destination and as a business hub. Every month a business fair takes
place in our city. Due to deterioration of law and order situation, the arrival of tourists have stopped and
participants for business fairs are also withdrawing their participation.
The other day it was reported that a bomb was detected in front of a school. Thanks to the vigilant attention of a
school student that it was detected and later deactivated by the bomb deactivation squad.
If such a situation continues, then what will be the fate of the inhabitants, no one knows. In this context, it is
advisable that the concerned authorities should rope in paramilitary forces to tackle the deteriorating law and
order situation.
It is a matter of concern that intelligence agencies failed to provide adequate and timely clues about various
incidents which have taken place recently creating panic among people.
The influx of large number of people from the nearby areas have contributed to this situation as the nearby areas
are economically backward. Economic backwardness and unemployment among youths are prompting them to
take to the path of crime like theft and burglary as easy means for earning money.
While immediately taking hold of the situation, the government should take steps in allocating adequate funds
for the development of the adjoining areas of the city. This will bring about a permanent solution to the
problem.

Consumer culture is a field of study that is focused on forming new theoretical knowledge on all the issues that
is related to consumption and behaviors of the marketplace. A person’s success is gauged by the success he or
she receives in terms of economic, social and professional ladder. This means that success is relative to the
shortcomings of others. Materialistic societies allow conspicuous consumption. For many other people,
achievements haven been translated into material possessions exclusively available to those who have earned
them. People have constantly competed against one another trying to achieve prize, fame and fortune. These are
some very important aspects of consumer culture.
The present economy comprises of companies that compete to sell products to consumers that can outdo one
another. The formation of millions of advertisement industry aptly shows the power of promotion of the latest
and the greatest competition between consumers. Every product has the power to to be capitalized depending on
the potential of its profitability. The influence that competitive consumption has on the lives of people started
even before money was valued. Consumer culture has played a very important role in the lives of all the people.
In many consumerism essays, it has been stated that American culture has created a lot of impact on the cultures
globally. United States was the world’s most aggressive national proponent of economic growth and
consumerism as the tickets of contentment however it failed to analyses the measures of anxiety, depression and
psychological dysfunction in the States.  Consumer culture allowed a positive development in the 21st century

people who do not value relationships over things. However, on the other hand it is also important note here
that consumer culture allows the lines of society class fade and form new relationships. Consumerism has
ignored the poor but it can create a large community of the upper class and the middle class.
