Adblock Plus
Adblock Plus is an open-source browser extension for content-filtering and ad
blocking. It is developed by developer Wladimir Palant's Eyeo GmbH, a German
software company. The extension has been released for Mozilla Firefox, Google
Chrome, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Opera, Safari, Yandex Browser, and
Android.

Reviews about Adblock Plus: Adblock Plus has a consumer rating of 4.33 stars
indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Adblock
Plus ranks 40th among software sites.
Some of the reviews from the site:
[Positive Reviews]
 “These days almost any browser will include a built-in pop-up blocker. Even the best
however will let pass ads that are not pop-ups and some pop-ups as well.

Free Adblock Plus will handle those persistent ads, and also comparably irritating
social media buttons. A useful extra is its option for automatically correcting typos in
your address bar, to spare you from visiting unwanted and possibly dangerous
websites. It's currently available for the Firefox, Chrome, and Opera browsers.

Three hints:

1. For top usefulness, download Adblock Plus's Element Hiding Helper (also free).

2. You'll probably want to disable ABP's permission for "acceptable" ads, easily
done.

3. No ad blocker will deal satisfactorily with the ever-changing display ads you'll often
see down the right side of a page. For this annoyance I recommend another free
utility, Clearly [evernote.com/clearly]. Clearly will work with Firefox and Chrome.”

 “I tested AdBlock Plus, and it does indeed block most ads on the Web. The coy
teaser ads—the worst—are intact, as are a few other tricky ads. The product does
not do much for page layouts, leaving holes here and there.”

[Negative Reviews]
 “No.
In my case, Adblock (plus) consumes a lot of CPU usage. I simply learnt to live well
with ads instead of loosing performance.”
 “I tried both ad block plus and adaway. Abp started acting up after a few hours. It
restricted all access to the internet for all browsers I had installed - default, chrome
and Firefox. Even a reboot didn't help. So had to disable it. When it worked it
removed all traffic from chrome too (even with the bandwidth saving option on).”

Explain in your own words how the tool works:

Adblock Plus is an adblocker extension, available in several browsers that helps
blocking pop-up ads. Works especially in browsing random new sites or even blocking
Youtube ads.

Describe at least one (1) strength and one weakness of the tool.

 Personally, I have been using this adblocker ever since this was recommended
to me and I can say that it effectively block ads like on Youtube and on most
frequent used sites that show countless ads. I can say that it blocks most
annoying ads that can hinder the page.
 The downside is sometimes, you have to disable the adblocker on other sites as
the adblock also accept “acceptable ads” which the site are profiting off aside
from their premium use.
How is this product supposed to decrease the chances your identity might be
exposed if you were trying to interact anonymously online?
It lets you browse the web anonymously and stop sites from tracking your online
activity. Added user control. You can choose to disable tracking, block all or some ads,
add filter lists, whitelist websites and disable social media buttons and anti-ad blocking
messages.

What are some of the instances you might get identified?

Instances like turning off the blocker in a suspicious looking site that says you
have to disable and allow them to send notifications on your end might be the gateway
for adware to bypass your device.
