LEARNING TASKS FOR DL

● State the objectives like idea of the skills or competencies expected to learn in the module.
● Check learners’ prior knowledge about the new lesson.
● Prepare a brief drill or review to help learners link the current lesson with the previous one.
● Present warm-up activities to establish interest in new lesson such as a story, a song,
poem, a problem opener, an activity, or a situation.
● Provide a brief discussion of the lesson to help learners discover and understand new
concepts and skills.
● Allow the learners engage with activities for independent practice to solidify their
understanding and skills of the topic.
● Help learners understand and master new information for independent practice.
● Include questions or blank sentence/paragraph to be filled in to process what they learned
from the lesson.
● Provide an activity which will help learners transfer new knowledge or skill into real life
situations or concerns.
● Evaluate level of mastery in achieving the learning competency.
● Additional activities to enrich learners’ knowledge or skill of the lesson learned and
likewise, retention of learned concepts.

1. games I will check my students’ vocabulary during review lesson through an anagram with the
given link from the Google Classroom. I will check if most of them are familiar with those
words by reading the class comment.
2. quizzes After the lesson, I will give a ten-item quiz via Google Form. I will examine the result
who are the students require remediation or enrichment.
3. recitations Through Google Meet, I can ask my learners to recall key activities and concepts
discussed when our lesson is finished.
4. discussion To help learners understand and master new information, probably we can use the FB

5. simulations I will allow my students to watch YouTube, preferably on the topic being discussed for
them to transfer ideas and concepts to new situations.

MODULE 3A: DESIGNING INSTRUCTION IN THE

DIFFERENT LEARNING DEIVERY MODALITIES

LESSON 1 – UNDERSTANDING THE DIFFERENT LDMs

Activity 1
1. Do a quick check of your knowledge of the four modalities prescribed in the LCP—face to
face (F2F) learning, DL, blended learning (BL), and homeschooling. In your own words,
define each modality. Write your own definitions in your Study Notebook. When you are
done, check Lesson 1, Activity 1 Answer Key 1 to see how well you did.
Face to face learning takes place when there is a physical contact or interaction
between the teacher and his/her learners inside the classroom.
Distance learning happens when teaching-learning is done thru online either
synchronous or asynchronous and modular either digital or printed learning.
Blended learning is any combination of the distance learning delivery modality.
Homeschooling is usually conducted by a parent. Parents are doing a fraction of
teacher’s jobs. The driving learning of the child is at home.
Now, answer this question: Which of the LDMs do not have an F2F learning component?
Write down your answer in your Study Notebook, then check it against Lesson 1, Activity 1
Answer Key 2.
Obviously, it is the distance learning because the learner is given the materials
and undertakes self-directed study at home or in another venue (D.O. 21, s. 2019, pp.
96). Likewise, homeschooling unless it is done thru online learning.

Activity 2
Read two documents: Guidance on Distance Learning and Non-Negotiable Minimum
Requirements for Distance Learning. As you go through the readings, complete the Distance
Learning Matrix. Share your completed matrix at your next LAC Session. Your goal is to
come
to a shared understanding with your peers on the different DL modalities and their defining
features and requirements.
Note that when a vaccine is already available and F2F will be allowed by the Inter-
Agency Task Force (IATF) and by the local government unit (LGU) concerned, any of the DL
modalities may be combined with F2F learning to come up with a BL. Learn more about BL

LESSON 2 – DESIGNING LESSONS AND ASSESSMENTS IN THE DIFFERENT LDMs

Activity 1
1. What is Lesson Designing or Lesson Planning?
Lesson Designing or Planning is one way of planning instruction. It is a way of
visualizing a lesson before it is taught. Likewise, it is a critical part of the teaching and
learning process.
2. Why is lesson designing important?
Lesson designing is important because it helps teachers to set learning target for
learners. It also helps teachers guarantee that learners reach those targets. Furthermore,
teachers are able to see to it that daily activities inside the classroom lead to learner
progress and achievement or the attainment of learning outcomes.
3. What are the three elements or components of a well-designed lesson?
The three elements or components of a well-designed lesson include SMART
learning objectives, relevant learning resources and engaging learning activities and
authentic learning assessment.

1. For learning tasks not found in the SLM you examined, what materials or resources can
you create or curate to supplement the SLM?
These are the following learning tasks that were not found in the SLM:
 Check for learners’ understanding
 Wrap up activities

 Emphasize key information and concepts discussed

 Ask learners to recall key activities and concepts discussed

I think the materials or resources that can be created or curated to supplement the
SLM are the LR Portal and DepEd Commons.

2. What kind of additional support can you give: a) the learner, and/or b) the household
partner so that they are guided throughout the lesson?
I think the additional support that I can give to the learner is to give a clear and
detailed instructions and explanations via SMS, FB Messenger GC, or Google Classroom
while for the household partner is to monitor and supervise his/her learning facilitation, so
that they are guided throughout the lesson.
3. How can the teacher gather feedback on the different learning tasks, in order to refine or
modify current and future lessons?
The teacher can gather feedback on the different learning tasks, in order to refine or
modify current and future lessons through surveys, reflection prompts and activities.

1. What assessment methods are common among the group members?

The common assessment methods among the group members are online distance.
2. What are the challenges in doing assessment in DL?
I think the challenges in doing assessment in DL are technical issues, distractions
and time management, and lack of in-person interaction.
3. Despite the challenges, what opportunities can you and your colleagues explore to
make assessment doable in DL?
Despite the challenges, the opportunities that I and my colleagues can explore to
make assessment doable in DL include make a plan, find a study space, ensure all required
software is available, and work out an orientation week.

PERSONAL REFLECTIONS
LAC Session 2

The one-size-fits-all does not tailor the group of learners that we have but instead,
search for an approach that could make the most meaningful learning for them. Although
the Department of Education has offered designing instruction in the different learning
delivery modalities prescribed by the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan, each
region/division has selected a particular learning delivery modality that could accommodate
their teachers, learners, and parents/household partners as well. In SDO Pangasinan II,
printed modular distance learning has been adopted.
The pros and cons of the implementation of this were underscored during our second
virtual LAC session. As I see to it, how do learning tasks significantly perform by our learners
in their home? Likewise, it bothered me how do learning assessments be reliable when
these are all done without the physical monitoring of the teachers. The perception might be
somewhat topsy-turvy when the actual scenario is already taking place. With all the
struggles that the teachers have been gradually undergoing, flexibility and empathy are
highly suggested to help these young learners to continue their studies.
