Problem Statement:-
Research Objectives:-
➢ To find out the preference of students between online & offline mode.
➢ To study the difference of teaching pattern between online & offline.
➢ To find out the satisfaction level of students during online mode of education.
➢ To know whether online education is as effective as offline mode of education.
➢ To study whether online mode of education can be continued in future or not.
Literature Review:-
(Hannay & Tracy, 2006) founded that in the continuity of distance learning there should be no
discontinuity of offline classes for education. As per research not many students prefer online education;
still there are many students who enjoy offline classes. If the techniques provided for online education
becomes effective, it does not mean that each student will grow in such an environment if the student
does not have strong need for personal growth and development.
(Mutuku, 2018) This article concludes that offline education is more beneficial in comparison to online
education. However the adoption of technology for online education has given flexibility and reliability in
online education. But it is also obvious that online education does not have competitive students in spite
of its popularity. Thus, most people believe that online education includes exceptional values in
comparison to offline education which is a false belief because quantitative analyses shows the offline
education increases the students performance.
(Ray, 2012) This study depicts that to gather some information about how different approaches are used
towards WBeL in India and two different new models CSIES and MBES to be implied on Indian
education system to make it more web based. This study also discussed other topics such as instructional
design models, online learning course development, and impact of technical writing.
(Jindal & Chahal , 2018) This article concludes that online education can change the future scenario of
education if it is implemented in joint collaboration with industry, universities and government. There is
an immense need of drastic changes to be made in course curriculum so as to bridge the gap; so that
students are ready to face different industries. Education process needs to be changed by making it more
practical with the use of technology & also course should be designed in different languages to increase
their reach and to create more opportunities for youth of rural India. Innovations are needed to design
ways to increase the social skills of online learners.
(Srichanyachon, 2014) This study provides valuable information for administrators and faculty to
consider as they wrestle with on-line delivery issues such as barriers and needs of online learners who
study English via WebEx system. WebEx system provides students with the opportunities to learn from
anywhere and to experience new learning environment. However, the problems with learning via this
system were very high. The students had problems with the internet connectivity, so it was not convenient
for them to communicate with teachers and classmates via WebEx. The most frustrating problem was that
of the Internet being down, on either the student's or the instructor's end. However, the finding revealed
that students with high computer aptitude had fewer barriers to learn online than those with low computer
aptitude.
(Luaran, Samsuri, Nadzri, & Mohamad Rom, 2013) founded that electronic learning or ‘e-learning’ has
been an influential mode of learning today. It is also proven that e-learning could provide greater
flexibilities on instructor-led or self-study courses among the students. The main advantage of e-learning
is that it enables learning at any place and time while its disadvantages are that the students might be
required to buy computers or go to cyber cafes to use computers, thus, reducing the opportunities for face
to face contact among friends. In short, e-learning is an integration of technologies in teaching and
learning. It enables students to learn effectively but eventually it is the educators who still need to play
their roles and perform their tasks in order to make the learning process happen.
(Goyal & Malhotra, 2013) The study tells that change in mode of education from traditional to online
helps in making the methods of learning more creatively. Including new technologies into education
system is very important for effective and efficient learning. Through online mode of education the
students have become active participants in the process of learning rather than being mere spectators.
(Kattoua, Al-Lozi, & Alrowwad, 2016) This study analyses the various characteristics such as behaviour,
attitude, cultural background and demographic factors influence the learning of student. Understanding
these characteristics is very important for teachers in order to improve their method of learning and
making it more effective. It helps the management to decide how to use technology for the betterment of
students in future.
(Naman wadhwa, 2020) Students interactions with teachers in offline mode of education is more effective
than online mode of education. Social skills won’t develop because of the online education. Face to face
interactions build confidence. Online education raises negative impacts on health. Studying via digital
media is causing a lot of eye strain for students, most of them are suffering from redness in the eye,
watering of eyes, insomnia etc. Online education reduces chance of partiality and favoritism as compared
to offline mode of education.
(Nahid Khalil Elfaki, 2019) :- Online education has a negative impacts on students achievements. The
results of offline students are better than online students. Online based education leads to health related
issues due to spending long period of time working with computers and smartphones. In offline mode of
education; physical and co-curricular activities induce leadership, group management, personality
development etc. The personal interaction with teachers is far better than online mode.
(Sun & Chen, 2016) The review clearly shows that online education has developed rapidly through the
availability of internet and new technology. We can all say that online education will continue to increase
its influence in higher education through various processes to mould itself with the new generation. It is
unlikely to replace traditional higher education but merely to be an alternative. But, owing to its
flexibility, accessibility and affordability online education is gaining popularity especially for people who
are unable to obtain education because of physical distance and unaffordable costs.
(Blackmon & Major, 2012) We believe that the studies should be taken online. Several factors influence
their experience, some of them are in control of students and some are in control of the faculty. Students
have to balance their studies and family in order to manage time. Teachers should work towards building
presence in the absence of physical classes and they must also work towards building intellective
relationships with students and work so as to create a sense of community. It is a balance of student and
teachers factors that influences faculty and student experiences. At last it overall shows that students are
more likely to pursue online class due to convenience, cost and advancement in the process of learning.
Research Design:-
Hypothesis:-
➢ H04: Respondents do not find online education is as effective as offline mode of education.
H14: Respondents do find online education is as effective as offline mode of education.
➢ H05: Respondents do not feel there is any scope for online mode of education.
H15: Respondents feel there is scope for online mode of education.
Importance/Benefits of study:-
➢ Due to limitation of time only few people would be selected for the study. The sample size for the
study is 100 only.
➢ The study is limited up to Ahmedabad area & Rajasthan area only.
➢ The main source of data for the study was primary data with the help of self-administered
questionnaires. Hence, the chances of unbiased information are less.
➢ The data analysis tools which we used are SPSS software, T test, Z test, Binomial test etc.
