What Lies Ahead?: Learning Episodes
EPISODES
My first episode will explain the expectations of my Teacher Education Institution Colegio de
Santa Catalina de Alejandria and my Cooperating School Colegio de Santa Catalina de
Alejandria. This will allow me to better understand the do’s and don’ts of teaching in the real
workplace. The orientation conducted by my practicum supervisor and the cooperating principal
will ensure my success as a student intern.
Read the vision, mission, goals and core values of the school.
Orientation – the act or process of giving people training and information about new job, situation, task and
etc
Expectations – a strong belief that something will happen or be the case in the future
Cooperating School – is a school where student teachers will have their practice teaching
Cooperating Principal – the person with the highest authority or most important position in a cooperating
school
Cooperating Teacher – a teacher who is mentoring a pre-service teacher in the area in which the candidate is
earning his/her certification
My Task (Activities)
Cooperating Teacher -
A. After the orientation conducted by my practicum supervisor/cooperating principal, what
are the things that I need to remember?
Be punctual and avoid absenteeism Should arrive in time and always be present
during the class since its only once a week.
Work hand-in-hand for the learners. Ensure that I am well prepared in terms of my
presentation and I was able to study my lesson
prior discussing it to the class.
Give and take principle between cooperating Make certain that all records of quizzes,
teacher and student teacher. attendance and performance were cumulatively
and accurately recorded. Always ensure the
credibility of students’ scores.
Pass the learning plan on time. Make time to do the learning plan. Completing
the learning will provide time to practice and
master the lesson.
My Analysis
Complete the structure frame.
Orientation sessions are conducted because it lays concise and accurate information to
make us comfortable being an intern. It set a venue for an opportunity to answer questions and
define roles, assess skill level and experience, set expectations, and anticipate head off
problems. They are also conducted in order to ensure the orderly transition of moods,
behaviors, and to size up the needs of the new normal we have due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Orientation sessions give background to pre-service teacher to what is and what is not, to how
and to why a certain rule needs to enact.
I need to follow the policies and procedures of the cooperating school so that it will not
affect the good relationship of the cooperating principal and my supervisor. As a preparation
to teaching profession, I need to show professionalism through following my cooperating
principal and their set of rules. It is also a way in which you show respect to them.
My Reflections / My Insights
A. How did I feel after the orientation? Complete the empty face and explain why you felt that
way? What are your joys / apprehensions?
I felt happy and slightly comfortable after the orientation because it gave us information of
what we need to do and what are the things we should remember always especially the rules and
routines of my cooperating school .It answers my questions that caused me to feel nervous and
afraid during that time. Even if they gave the information what are the things we need to do. I
still felt nervous since that was the time when we will meet our pupils and cooperating teacher
for the first time.
I’m not a totally 100% prepared to teach because I still need to overcome my
apprehensions in teaching. I know how to handle and manage the class but when it comes in
teaching, I’m not that really prepared. Sometimes I don’t know how I will deliver my instruction
where pupils will motivate to learn and understand clearly what I taught. When it comes to my
discussion, I’m lack of good understanding of the content you teach and ability to transform it
with clear and succinct messages.
