Diag4 ARGO TRACTORS is a new diagnostic system developed to carry out diagnosis on new
vehicles in the ARGO TRACTORS group (Landini, McCormick and Valpadana)
The system consists of a software part and a hardware part.
The software part involves the use of an application known as
Diag4 ARGO TRACTORS, which guides the user through the
performance of diagnostic functions.
The hardware part, excluding the device on which the application is installed,
consists of a communication card, also known as a VCI, and named Argo DIAG4.
The VCI allows communication between the application and
the vehicle to be diagnosed.
MAIN FUNCTIONS
Diag4 ARGO TRACTORS is used to:
• diagnose and test vehicles to resolve problems associated with the on-board electronics
• allow the user to have access to all ARGO diagnostic activities
• replace faulty components and then reconfigure the components and the vehicle
• generate a report on the operations carried out that is valid for customers as well as acting as an archive of diagnostic
activities carried out by the workshop
INNOVATIVE CHARACTERISTICS
From a diagnostic viewpoint:
• automatic identification of the vehicle model by reading the serial number or type of tractor
(where this function is implemented)
• diagnostic reports
The new diagnostic tool will be distributed in the version Starter Kit

CONNECTION METHODS
Diag4 ARGO TRACTOR software is installed on the Panasonic FZ-G1 (A) tablet.
The Argo DIAG4 (B) communication card must be connected to the tractor diagnostic input by means of special
diagnostic cables.
The connection between the tablet (A) and VCI (B) takes place in two different ways: Bluetooth (1) or USB (2).

• VCI in use
(and rapid access to VCI selection)
• VCI connection status in use
• Language selected for the application (rapid
access to Language selection)
• Rapid access to User guide
When the diagnostic program is started up, the first page displayed will be the Home page.
It is subdivided into two main groups: Diagnostic activities and Support activities
1. Diagnostic activities
Gives access to diagnostic functions: 1 2
- History of vehicles diagnosed
- Automatic search of vehicle
- Manual selection of vehicle
2. Support activities
Gives access to diagnostic support functions:
- Tractor manuals
- User guide
- Device maintenance
DEVICE MAINTENANCE
From here it is possible to configure the application and manage preferences, updates, licence and VCI.
Preferences
If no VCI is linked or if the linked VCI is different from the one in use, it is
not possible to continue with the diagnostic functions (except in
simulation mode with VCI Demo mode preset).
The first time that the VCI is linked, only VCI DEMO will be present
1
Connect the VCI to the tablet using
the appropriate USB cable
The following functions are present for each Argo DIAG4 VCI
Delete
Allows removal of a VCI from the list
(e.g. if decommissioned due to
replacement)
Update firmware

with the VCI.
At the end, the outcome is
displayed (beside the message Test).
Check the VCI firmware
The VCI firmware updates are contained in the Diag4 ARGO TRACTORS application updates.
To run the update of a new firmware version or to reload the firmware proceed as follows:

Change the VCI in use
From the Title Bar, it is possible to identify the connection status of the selected VCI by means of the multicoloured
warning light.
The Updates function is an integral part of Diag4 ARGO TRACTORS and guides the user through the simple operations for
downloading, selecting and running the available updates.
These are classified into Obligatory and Optional and can be carried out only in Online mode.

The Licence Management system is an integral part of Diag4 ARGO TRACTORS and guides the user through the simple
operations to be carried out to activate and/or renew the licence.
The operation of Diag4 ARGO TRACTORS is dependent upon the user licence and
availability of the VCI Argo DIAG4
The licence allows the new diagnostic system to be used on two machines (tablets) at most for each VCI owned by the user
If the licence has expired, all the diagnostic functions will be blocked.
If the licence is missing or has expired, the user can only start the application in order
to update the licence
From the Navigation Bar, it is possible to gain access to the following functions:
1. Licence Activation –
to activate the licence
2
2. Display licences –
to display details of the
licences in use

The activation procedure requires the VCI
to be connected to the machine on which
the application has been installed.
The status and all information concerning licences in use will be displayed
From the Manuals menu, it is possible to access and consult the tractor manuals (from those present in the database)
These are vehicle repair manuals.
Allows consultation of the Diag4 ARGO TRACTORS user manual (in pdf format)
The User Guide can also be accessed from the Title Bar

WORKING MODES
Two working modes are available:
Demo Mode To perform diagnostic simulations, allowing the main screens to be displayed.
This mode does not require the use of the VCI.
Real Mode Allows diagnosis to be performed on the vehicle and its devices, accessing the available diagnostic functions
through the use of the VCI.
It is also possible to set the working mode by accessing Card Management from the Device maintenance menu.
USER SCENARIOS BASED ON THE LICENCE
Diag 4 ARGO TRACTORS allows access to several user scenarios based on the licence in use.
The licence specifies the makes for which the diagnostic functions and the manuals are available:
• Valpadana – represented by the letter V
• Landini – represented by the letter L
• McCormick – represented by the letter M
The combination between user type, type of environment and available makes determines the application
user scenario and may change the appearance of the user interface and the available functions.
It is possible to identify the scenario currently being used by displaying the licence characteristics.
Then access the Display licence panel from Card Management (in device Maintenance) or by selecting the VCI
directly from the Title Bar.
3. Manual Selection – to carry out diagnosis on a vehicle, selecting the make and model
2 3
VEHICLE SELECTION – HISTORY
Allows a vehicle model on which a previous diagnosis has been carried out to be selected manually (rapidly).
This mode runs automatic recognition of the vehicle make and model, to which the Argo DIAG4 VCI has been connected in
order to run rapid diagnosis (where this function is implemented).
The recognition takes place in two ways: reading the serial number or the type of tractor.
The Automatic Search function is available for vehicles which permit it.
Allows the vehicle to be diagnosed

This will be followed by operations of writing new values, reading written values and displaying the configuration outcome
3
Saving and Loading a Configuration
It is possible to save a given parameter configuration and then load it subsequently to be run on another control unit fitted
to another vehicle (of the same model and version)
After selecting the icon for the control unit which the required operation is to be performed, you can decide whether to run:
1. Programming – to reprogram the control unit software
2. Parameterisation – To change the control unit software parameters
