Activity (1) = Correlation to Regression
Indian Diet data
A) Create a scatter/dot chart (Graphs > Chart Builder > Scatter/Dot) for
Calories and SatsFats. Is there a relationship? How strong?
B) Run a correlation test (Analyze > Correlate > Bivariate). What other
variables have a relationship with Calories?
2
Activity (2) = two-way ANOVA
Indian Diet data
A) Create a cluster bar chart (Graphs > Chart Builder > Bar) for Calories
with Venue as the category axis and Gender as the clusters. Add error
bars for 1 standard deviation (SD). Are there differences? How strong?
3
Activity (3) = ANCOVA
Indian Diet data
A) Run the ANCOVA test (Analyze > General Linear Model > Univariate)
as you did in Activity #2 with Calories as the dependent variable, and then
Venue and Gender as the fixed factors. Next place SatsFats as the
covariate; also create plots. Are the results for the two fixed factor variables
the same as in the two-way ANOVA?
B) What relationship exists with the dependent variable (Calories) and the
covariate (SatsFats)? What statistics supports your answer?
C) Review the plots between the two-way ANOVA and the ANCOVA
results. Can you explain what changes have occurred?
D) Do the residuals have a normal distribution (Graphs > Chart Builder >
Histogram)?
