Article On Seeing God in The Face of The Poor by Sr. Steffy Dmi

This document discusses seeing God in the face of the poor. It states that we are called to love the poor and serve them as we would encounter God. We should fulfill God's desire, not our own, and God's desire is for us to help those who are far from Him. We must live simply and see God in the poor through our actions. God is always with the poor people, who are rich before God, and invites us to experience the poor as friends to understand our relationship with Jesus.

SEEING GOD IN THE FACE OF THE POOR

WRITTEN BY

SR. STEFFY DMI

SEEING GOD IN THE FACE OF THE POOR
I am the Lord your God’ (Exod.29: 45).” The presence and the dwelling of God among his people. Give special
importance the relationship between God and human beings. “Seeing the face of God in everything, everyone, all
the time, and His hand in every happening; this is what it means to be contemplative in the heart of the world.
Seeing and adoring the presence of Jesus, especially in the lowly appearance of bread, and in the distressing
disguise of the poor.
WE ARE CALLED TO LOVE THE POOR
In religious life, we called to love the poor and serve for the poor, encounter with God, total commitment to God,
through the poor. We will transform us so that we can give witness and we can find a new way to see God.
FULFILL THE GOD’S DESIRE
Does not work for our own desire to fulfill, but fulfill the God’s desire. First, we need to understand the God’s
desire. he wants us to bring the people those who gone away from him, he expecting us to do his real mission for
his people, he calls us to realize his face in the poor people when we think about our own self we forget to see God
in the face of the poor.
LIVE SIMPLE LIFE
Never worry about living simple life and expecting life that is more comfortable. “The religious community is a
temple of living stones, and that each religious, a member of this community, is a temple of the Holy Spirit: ‘Surely
we know that we are God’s temple, where the Spirit of God dwells. Anyone who destroys God’s temple will be
destroyed by God, because the temple of God is holy; and that temple is you, I and entire human beings in the
world.’
GOD IS HIDDEN IN THE FACE OF THE POOR
God is hidden in the face of the poor; we cannot encounter and be united with him without our relationship with
the poor. (Cor.3: 16-17).” Seek God’s love, humble you and having the mind of Jesus in our life do not search for
love from whom we know and like. Find out the love from God in the face of the poor. Jesus gave us his
commandment to love the lord with your whole heart, mind, and soul. “God sustains every soul and dwells in it
substantially”, therefore, “the soul’s union with and transformation in God is through love. Personal relationship
between the soul and God unites us together to feel his intimacy that we experience and share the same love with
the people with whom we are called to serve.

Nothing can change God's

Love for You
GOD IS ALL THE TIME WITH POOR PEOPLE
God is all the time with poor people. They are rich before God. They have fulfilled the God’s desire and finding
way to enter into the kingdom of God. In bible, we see Lazarus and rich man
 Lazarus -- poor in the world but rich in the kingdom of God
 Rich man --- Rich in the world but poor in the kingdom of God
God loves the poor because they live simple life. They are having mind to share with neighbor what they are
having. Sharing their love and care to their neighbors. Even though they are having limited things in their life,
they are happy with what they are having. We see the poor as “our Lords and masters,” and we learn to
become their servants.
INVITATION OF GOD
God also invites us to experience those who are poor as our friends. The poor help us to understand the
relationship we should have with Jesus, in which our Lord and Master becomes our friend. Let us have the
limited mind not expecting more. Let us see the God’s face in the poor through our action and live the life of
poor in to rich. As our charism says “loving God in serving the poor to be fully human and fully alive”, Jesus
lived for the poor and embraced poor, as we the followers of Jesus we are called to follow the footprints of our
master and lord to fulfill our charism, which is our vision.
