Emotional Word Human Reaction 3
Abstract
Several experiments have examined potential interactions between emotion and memory
through a focus on accuracy and reaction bias analyses. Such experiments usually indicate a
higher degree of specificity and a more versatile approach to neutral words. Other studies
have however investigated interactions with data on response time. People are subjected for
neutral words. Study shows that it takes more than neutral words to respond to emotional
words. It may happen because emotional words trigger ourselves and there are many bases on
which this relies on, Here, in the following report it has been experimented whether one
emotional word respond time take longer than the neutral words respond time. However, the
reaction time can vary from one individual to another based on the surroundings. By this
Introduction
Human beings are subjected to various words in everyday life which are part of the
conversation. These words and statements carry different types of emotions, attachments and
materialistic touches to which every person reacts in various ways. Humans are considered to
communicate with five senses. A sensation is an organisms sensory capacity that gives vision
knowledge.
“In the daily life, ‘emotion’ is an experience which triggers human beings the most. Emotion
is a complex experience of consciousness, bodily sensation, and behavior that reflects the
personal significance of a thing, an event, or a state of affairs.” [ CITATION Rob19 \l 1033 ] . It's
a mindful experience marked by a certain level of enjoyment or pain and intensive mental
engagement. Emotions can be classified in two subsections. These are: Positive Emotions and
Negative Emotions.
“Positive emotion may be considered as any feeling where there is a lack of negativity, such
that no pain or discomfort is felt. Positive emotions subjectively resemble positive sensations
(e.g., satiety, comfort) as well as undifferentiated positive moods.” [ CITATION Lop09 \l 1033 ]
The level of emotions can vary. To define feelings, various words are used. The words can
not suffice to reflect the frequency of emotions. But one word can effect and feel about thing
which is matter for the person. So, want to know about more and get practical experience I
did this Experiment and my hypothesis refer emotional word take longer time than neutral
word respond.
Emotional Word Human Reaction 5
Method
Participant
To find out whether reaction time is more in case of emotional words than neutral words, a
participant was selected at random. The participant is male. He is 23 years old and Under
Materials
For the experiment I use paper, pen, pencil and Stopwatch. There are 2 piece of paper, one
was Participant’s Informed Consent form and other one was full of words, which was used
for experiment. Pen for signature. And pencil I used for note down the respond time and word
participant said. Stopwatch for measure respond time, how long participant took.
Procedure
I invite him almost one week ago before the experiment by telling give me some time on this
day for one hour. Then on experiment day he came and I greeting him for come. And ask him
is he participant voluntarily or not. After he tell yes. I told him everything about experiment,
how it will go, what I will ask, what he can do, everything. Also I gave him consent from,
after his reading we both signature that. Then I start asking words and note down time and
respond words. After done with all word I thank him and ask how he feel. When he said he is
Result
The results are as follows-
As result shows here, Emotional words take longer time than Neutral words respond.
Which is exactly match with my hypothesis. After my experiment and I get all data. In 15
neutral words my experimental person takes total 113.68 sec & emotional 15 words takes
179.32 sec. Emotional words total reaction time divided with 15, I found average reaction
time for emotional words 11.954. Same in neutral words, total reaction time divided with 15
Discussion
This experiment helps me figure out my hypothesis is correct and give me a new experience.
However, I did it this time without not much problem but I like to suggest some point for
who will do this kind of experiment. My first suggestion is, please make sure you doing this
in a silent room. By that participant not distract easily. Second one is very important from my
side, when you ask those word or any think by watching the sheet or where you note down
those, you must use some cover. Cause when you ask or write in front of participant it may
bother him or her. It’s may distract them and impact in experiment. Thirdly, you have some
water in front of participant, because they may not use to this type of situation. So sometime
they can ask for drink something. Always ask question loud and clear. Other external factors
might played a role in the study too: weather, time and interest of the participants. So, future
studies can be done by randomly assigning people from anywhere. This might give us more
diverse and different data and those could be even more generalizable.
