Course Rationale:
The Supply Chain is made up of logistics, operations, planning, and sourcing, followed by a Supply Chain
Management Strategy. The Supply Chain Logistics course will cover transportation, warehousing and
inventory, and logistics network design. The Supply Chain Operations course covers techniques used to
optimize flow and focuses specifically on Six Sigma quality and Lean practices. In the Supply Chain
Planning course students will master different forecasting approaches. The Supply Chain Sourcing course
deals with different techniques that help you create lasting and productive supplier relationships. Finally,
in the capstone course on Supply Chain Management Strategy you will solve a real-life business case.

Course Objectives:
To familiarize students on the following:
1. To understandthe concepts and principles of Supply Chain Management
2. To apply the Supply Chain Management systems in the Industries in both manufacturing and service
sectors.
3. To analyze the importance of the Strategic importance of Supply Chain Management in contemporary
Business environment.
4. To evaluate the Supply Chain Management to derive competitive advantage in current highly dynamic
global business scenario.

Learning Outcomes:
Students will be able to;
 Understand the strategic importance of optimized supply chains with high efficiency.
 Apply the knowledge of supply chain to all relevant and allied industries.
 Evaluate logistical issues such as purchasing, warehousing, queuing and production.

Pedagogy:
 The study plan covering readings, classroom sessions, group work sessions and assignments
corresponding to each session are outlined below: It is mandatory to go through the ‘Pre-Session
Readings’ and prepare for case discussions. Quiz or surprise tests would be conducted on the same.
