Challenges faced by Android
FRAGMENTATION
Android needed to ensure that all member of OHA would not develop their own incompatible versions of Android as was happening
before. Such an agreement was difficult to enforce. It would also be difficult to prevent non alliance member from doing the same
as well.
ALIGNING CARRIERS

open source marketplace platform. This would reduce the revenues generated from their portals as well as reduce the control they
had over developers. As Google was onboard Google ID based validation would become universal.
DEVELOPER COMMUNITY
Difficult to attract large base of talented developers until the ecosystem was large enough to sustain with a sufficiently large user
base. Apple was already ahead on this front.
