Upgrading X23/X25/X35 Firmware & Software

To check if the X25/X35 requires its chipset upgraded, go to the software versions screen, and look for the
following details: ① ② Note: X23 may not show this information, and will require the upgrade.

• If your numbers do not match above,


the X25/35 chipset will need
upgrading. See below.
• X23 may not show this information.
• If they do match, skip to “Upgrading
the X25/35 software”. (Page 4)

Upgrading the X23/X25/X35 Firmware


1. Insert a Toshiba USB into your PC, and follow these steps to format it to FAT32
a. Go into File Explorer and right-click on the USB
b. Select “Format..”
c. Ensure the File System is set to FAT32
and Quick Format is ticked
d. Select Start, and OK.
e. Select OK when complete, and Close.
2. Go to Topcon TotalCare / MyTopcon and download the Console Firmware

3. Open the ZIP file so you can see all the files inside.

4. Highlight all the files and right-click-> copy.

5. Go into the formatted USB, and right-click -> paste.

6. Right-click on “install_mbr.cmd” and select “Run as Administrator”. Approve any warning that may appear.

7. Black screen will appear asking to Press any key to continue…


Do this, the window will close automatically.
8. Close the Explorer windows and eject the USB properly. THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT

a. Select the icon next to the clock on your PC, and Eject the USB. (Win10)

(Win 7)

9. Your USB is now loaded with the Chipset firmware ready for the console.

10. Have the console turned OFF and insert the USB into any of the available USB ports.

11. Power up the console using the switch / key / power button and the firmware will load, and eventually
shutdown itself.

12. Remove the USB from the console.

13. Remove the harness from the rear of the console for 10 seconds, then reconnect the plug.

14. Power up the console and navigate to the software versions screen as per step 1 to check the versions.

24. Have the console turned OFF and insert the USB into any of the available USB ports.

25. Power up the console using the switch / key / power button and the software will load, and eventually
shutdown itself.

26. Remove the USB from the console.

27. Remove the harness from the rear of the console for 10 seconds, then reconnect the plug.

28. Power up the console, and be sure to check “Yes” when asked if data is to be restored.
29. Upon restart, navigate to the console software page to check the version loaded

X25/X35

The versions above are current as at August 2019

30. After console firmware is updated, the receiver will also need updating. An error will probably display about
this. To update the receiver (AGI-4) follow these steps

Upgrading the AGI-4 Firmware

a. Navigate to the settings page


b. Navigate to the System -> GPS -> Receiver settings, and press on “Firmware Upgrade”

c. The system will show an alert with versions listed


d. Approve this message, and the next, and the
system will restart automatically, and update the
receiver.

e. After restarting, the console and receiver will be upgraded.


f. Perform an NV-RAM clear to finalise the process.

Note: Depending on how old the previous firmware was, you may need to re-calibrate the receiver
steering settings. Later versions do not require the calibrations to be re-done.

Note: Any other Topcon ECU’s attached may need software/firmware updates after console upgrades (i.e.
ASC-10 / YieldTrakk / Apollo / etc.)

Note: Formatting the USB Drive before every firmware / software upgrade is good practice, to prevent
any data corruption issues when the user data is automatically recovered after the update.
