6 STEPS HYPOTHESIS TEST
1. Identify the dependent and independent variables.
Dependent variables: MOTIVATION and SCORE
Independent variables: GENDER and SES
2. State the null and alternative hypothesis.

Null: There is no significant difference on students’ motivation and examination scores

regardless of their gender and socio-economic status.

Alternative: There is a significant difference on students’ motivation and examination

scores regardless of their gender and socio-economic status.

3. The null and alternative hypothesis will be tested at 0.05 or 5% significance level.
4. The p-Value will be determine using ANOVA at 5% level of significance. If the P value
greater than 5% accept the null and reject the alternative hypothesis while if the P value
is less than 5% the null is rejected and accepts the alternative hypothesis

COMPARE MOTIVE AND SCORE BY:

As shown in table 1 and 2, in terms of motivation the males has higer mean than
females which is 4.3519 and 4.2037 that means more of the males are highly motivated, but
females tend to get higher scores which gives them higher mean than males.
When looking at their SD and variance both males has the lowest standard deviation in
motivational and score, it means that their scores and motivational data are clustered around
the mean. While the variance indicates that males are more likely having a little gap in their
examination scores and motivational rather than the females.
On the otherhand, both males and females obtain a median of 4.3333 on their motivation
which means both of them are mostly highly motivated based on the scale. While in terms of
score most of the females got 56 and above scores.
Lastly, both males and females got a mode of 4 in terms of their motivations which
implies that most of then are highly motivated, and by looking at their scores males got a mode
of 52 which means several of them got the same score which is 52 while females scores are
varied and some of them got 48, 56, 60, and 68.
B. SES

Table 3 and 4 shows that there is only slight difference between the motivation on both
male and female students’ in different Socio-Economic status. Males with high socio-economic
status obtain the highest mean which is 4.4333, while females with high socio-economic status
got the lowest mean among the students. In terms of examination score males with low socio-
economic status performs well and got the highest mean among the students and the students
who got the lowest scores are also coming from males with higher socio-economic status.
In addition, all males with low, high, and average socio-economic status has the lowest
standard deviation in motivational and examination score , it means that their scores and
motivational data are clustered near the mean. While the variance also indicates that all males
with low, high, and average socio-economic status are more likely have a little difference
between their scores and motivational rather than the females since they all have lower
variance than females.
6. CONCLUSION
After performing the ANOVA at 5% significance level we already tested our null and
alternative hypothesis. Base on the result of our p – Values which 0.077 for Gender and 0.960
for the SES versus the MOTIVE and a p – Value of 0.615 for Gender and 0.093 for SES versus
SCORE hence the null hypothesis is accepted and the alternative hypothesis is rejected which
means that there is no significant difference on students’ motivation and examination scores
regardless of their gender and socio-economic status.
