INTRODUCTION

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered

coronavirus. Most people infected by the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate
respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. Older people, and those
with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory
disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness.

The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is be well informed about the
COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it spreads. Protect yourself and others from
infection by washing your hands or using an alcohol based rub frequently and not touching
your face.

The COVID-19 virus spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the
nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes, so it’s important that you also practice
respiratory etiquette. For example, by coughing into a flexed elbow.

At this time, there are no specific vaccines or treatments for COVID-19. However, there
are many ongoing clinical trials evaluating potential treatments. WHO will continue to provide
updated information as soon as clinical findings become available.

1
HISTORY

The COVID-19 pandemic, also known as coronavirus pandemic, is a global outbreak

of 2019 coronavirus disease caused by coronavirus severe acute respiratory syndrome 2
(SARS-CoV-2). The outbreak was first detected in mid-December 2019 in the city of Wuhan,
Hubei China, and was recognized as a pandemic by the World Health Organization on March
11, 2020. As of April 18, more than 2.3 million (2,300,000) cases of COVID-19 have been
reported in at least 180 countries. On March 13 the WHO announced that Europe had become
a new pandemic center.

STATISTIC OF CASES

Diagram 1 [ source ; Wikipedia ]

Total cases: 7762 Recovered: 6330 Death: 115

Based on the chart above, total cases in Malaysia is 7762. The total recovered vistims is 6330
and the death until 30th May is 115. The highest cases is in 26th March with total 235 cases in
a day while the lowest is in 28th May with total only 10 cases. This shows that the cases in
Malaysia still uncertain. So, we as Malaysian must follow the movement control order fom
government to prevent this virus from spread in our beloved country.

3
IMPLICATION

As we know it, the COVID-19 has caused a great deal of harm to us, especially in the
economic sector where Movement Control Orders [ MCO ] have been implemented since last
March. As a result of this incident, it has raised the issue of unemployment as some contractors
are not allowed to operate and are unable to accommodate the large number of workers and
have had to resign. This has resulted in many losing their jobs and sources of income.

In addition, this virus also affects the education sector where all educational institutions
must be closed until this problem is resolved and all students are delayed in their learning. They
had to study online which made it very difficult for the students. Graduates who are waiting
for practicality also have to temporarily suspend their passion.

4
PREVENTION

As responsible citizens, we must cooperate with the government in dealing with this virus. So,
we just need to follow the Movement Control Order [ MCO ] and take these precautions to
prevent the virus from spreading. The precautions are:

 We must clean our hands often with soap and water or with the hand sanitizer.
 Practice social distancing with other people or people with symptoms by 1 meter.
 Don’t touch your eyes, nose or mouth.
 Stay home if you feel unwell.
 Cover your mouth and nose with your elbows while sneezing or using tissue. However,
it is best to wear a face mask.
 If you or your family have symptoms, go to the hospital or clinic immediately to check
in or call an ambulance.
 Follow the directions of your local health authority.

5
CONCLUSION

In conclusion, we as citizens are responsible to help the government deal with this
COVID-19. We need to obey the rules and instructions of the government from time to time in
this Movement Control Order [ MCO ] and be careful to not to get infected with this virus as
it is very easy to spread from one person to another. Also, take this opportunity to have fun
with our family as this is the time to strengthen our family bond.

6
SUGGESTION

In my opinion, I suggest that the government continue the Movement Control Order [
MCO ] until the virus is completely gone in our country. In addition, the government also
needs to tighten regulations on prohibition across the country as many people take lightly on
this issue and are willing to violate this directive. The government needs to impose a fair
sentence on offenders who violate this directive.
