Description
With Freelance 2016 SP1 installed on Windows 10 version 1703 and 1709 operating
systems it was observed that Freelance Engineering does not start if FDT Shared
Components are installed.
Furthermore Freelance Operations shall not be used in Extended Diagnostic mode as
DTM display access times can be highly increased with influencing the normal navigation
in Freelance Operations.

Freelance 2016 SP1 installed on Windows 10 version 1607, version 1511 or any LTSB is
not affected.

Corrective Action or Resolution


For Freelance 2016 / Freelance 2016 SP1:
A roll-up RU02 for Freelance system version 2016 SP1 has been developed. It is
available for download from ABB Library and “my ABB/My Control System”.

Workaround:
One of the following workarounds could also prevent the issue:
 Delay the update of Windows 10 operating system and use Windows 10 version 1607
or 1511 operating system
 If Windows 10 was updated to version 1703 and 1709, revert back to Windows 10
version 1607
 Un-install FDT Shared Components
 Use Windows 7 SP1
 For Freelance Operations additionally: Remove option “Extended Diagnostic” mode
or avoid using DTMs in the “Extended Diagnostic” mode.
