How To Define Success
How To Define Success
The only person that can answer the question above is you. I am neither able nor willing to prescribe the
ultimate definition of success, as this is not possible. Every person is thinking differently about being
prosperous in life and is defining success in another way, so there can’t exist a definition that is suitable for
all. It is very important that you know exactly how to define success in life! Make yourself aware what
accomplishment, success, and prosperity in general means to you in your life. Some might define success as
having luxurious cars and a huge mansion, whereas others consider a life full of joy and happiness with their
family as the true meaning of success. Once you have figured out what is important for you personally you
are able to focus on your visions and goals.
One of the most important key steps to achieving success in life is to know the meaning of success for your
personal life. The true meaning of success goes far beyond the common definitions of success, such as
having a lot of money, being wealthy, having a lot of tangibles and earned degrees. Quite the opposite: true
success in life cannot be measured with the above-named factors, but instead with the amount of people
that are able to live a better and more advanced life because of what you created. This is the meaning of
success. Not the trophies people are collecting in their lives. Media and society let us often conclude that
living a successful life means to be extraordinarily wealthy and have a lot of tangibles. But the meaning of
success is to live a happy life and to make this world a better place for everyone.
All doors lead somewhere… your ability to be selective with the doors that you open is a major contributor
to the successful situations that you find yourself walking into.
Additionally, it’s important to remember that all great doors are not opened by you and you alone. The
most successful doors are often opened by the most unlikely people. Be selective in the doors that you open
and the doors that you allow to be opened for you.
1. Selective Hearing – You must learn how to be selective about who and what you listen to. If you want to
be successful, you must learn to listen and receive the meat while selectively spitting out the bones.
2. Selective Relationships – We’ve all heard the old sayings, “You lie down with dogs you get fleas, if you
play with fire you get burned, bad company corrupts good character…” The bottom line is this – If you want
to be successful you must you must be selective in your relationships.
3. Selective Exits – There is always a time to stop and a time to go, unfortunately people can’t seem to find
the appropriate rhythm of when to stop and when to go. If you want to be successful you must understand
the appropriate red and green lights of life, also be prepared to take a detour, make a u-turn and most
importantly take an exit.
4. Selective Memory – In sports they refer to a major attribute of a successful athlete is the ability to forget
the last play, especially if it was a mistake. The same is true in everyday life, if you want to be successful,
you must let go of the fears, forget about the mistakes, lose the memories of failure and selectively focus on
your successes, your wins and your God-given potential.
5. Selective Choices – This sums it all up, if you want to be successful, be selective and make wise choices.
The End!
