Hello, my name is Isabella Costanza and I am currently a freshman here at Sacred

Heart University. Declaring my major in Strategic Communications in Advertising and PR as well

as Media Arts has given me the opportunity to enrol in quite a few amazing communications
courses this past semester.
While reflecting the 2021 Spring Semester, there are many things that I have learned
specifically from CM102 (Intro to Media Productions) course with Professor Golda. When taking
a look back to the beginning weeks of the semester in February, I was very inexperienced with
programs such as weebly, garage band, photoshop, adobe premiere elements, and even the
Lumix camera. When looking into present day, I can easily say that with this course I have
learned to grow and adapt with these programs and technology.
The first project was to develop our own weebly websites. When hearing the sentence
“create your own website”, I was slightly overwhelmed with how to approach this. However, I
came to learn that weebly is actually a very straight forward program that makes it super easy to
build your own website. They have a whole tool selection that allows you to build pages (or
sections), and within these pages you can select elements you would like to drag in such as
photo galleries, documents, YouTube videos, text, etc, which helps make your website look very
advanced in a simple way. Weebly has become a key program that has played an intricate role
in every single one of my projects.
The next program I came to discover was garageband. I used garageband to record and
produce my own podcast, which is something I never thought I would be able to do! Once I
discovered the basics of garageband and how to navigate it, I was able to cut and extend audio,
add in background music, and even upload it to soundcloud.
Following garageband, I was able to use the Lumix camera to discover different ways to
manually capture a photograph. I experimented with the camera by changing the aperture,
shutter speed, exposure, ISO, and rule of thirds. By doing this, I was really able to understand
the best ways to capture a photograph.
This also introduced me to photoshop and adobe premiere elements. In photoshop I was
able to manipulate photographs by liquifying, colorization, levitation, etc. By learning how to do
this, I became familiar with the quick selection tool, paintbrush tool, cropping tools, and many
other tools.
Adobe premiere elements also helped me become familiar with editing camera footage,
inserting images within a video, as well as adding audio to footage. Using garage band prior to
adobe premier helped me become slightly more familiar with how to complete tasks like these.
Overall, CM102 has covered many key concepts that have essentially allowed me to
excel within the productions aspect of the School of Communications here at Sacred Heart
University, thank you for listening!
