or this assignment, please complete the Coaching Version of Leadership Scale for Sport located below.
Once you have completed the survey, use this instructions on page 3 to score your survey and view
your results as it pertains to your leadership behaviors as a coach. Then, in 2-3 pages, please discuss
your scores on each of the subscales (i.e. democratic behavior, autocratic behavior, training and instruction,
positive feedback, social support) and whether or not you believe these results are an accurate reflection of
your coaching philosophy. How do you see yourself incorporating the various leadership behaviors as
assessed by the survey on your teams? Are there certain leadership behaviors that you feel are more
important components of your overall leadership philosophy or style?
Each of the following statements describes a specific behavior that a coach may exhibit. For each statement there are five alternatives:
1. ALWAYS; 2. OFTEN (about 75% of the time); 3. OCCASIONALLY (50% of the time); 4. SELDOM (about 25% of the time); 5.
NEVER
Please indicate your typical behaviors by marking an "X" in the appropriate space. There are no right or wrong answers. Your
spontaneous and honest response is important for the success of the activity.
