Planning:

Definition:
  Planning is the process of thinking about and organizing the activities required to
achieve strategic objectives. Planning means defining goals for future organisational
performance and deciding on the tasks and use of resources needed to attain them.
 
Explanation: 
Planning is one of the main roles of a manager that is needed in order to reach the
companies goals and objectives. Planning may include allocating resources such as manpower,
dividing the responsibilities among the employees, and setting a timeline or schedule for the
project of when it will start and setting the deadline. 
 
Planning is also an event where the managers meet with the top level executives
and discuss about the short term and long term goals of the company, as well as ensuring that the
projects are being met within the deadline.
 
Examples: 

1.) A person owns an online clothing store and he is planning on opening a shop in
a few weeks. He is observing whether to use digital advertising or traditional advertising or both
to make people aware about his newly opened store.
