Course Description

This course and its materials were initially created for the purpose of In-service English language teacher
compulsory training with an exit certificate. However, the scope and volume of the course avail it for pre-
service English language teacher education also. While the In-service teacher training program was
considered for a total of 80 hours, including a demo lesson planning and teaching as the final attestation,
the pre-service course is covered in 150 hours, with 72 contact and 60 self study hours. 18 hours go on
midterm quizzes, lesson plan/portfolio, assessment samples presentations, discussions, and the final
exam.
The present document is the English summarized translation of the Armenian course syllabus and the
detailed guide, used by English language teacher trainers and educators from 2011 to present. Ref.

Covering the main questions of TESL, this course has been adapted and used in diverse cultural contexts,
teacher education and training programs following both general and specialized educational objectives.
The Guide contains summaries of all the lectures, references and other useful sources for both students
and the lecturers.
