Studying at NSU Campus and Studying at Our Home
Studying at NSU Campus and Studying at Our Home
Choosing a university is not an easy task for a person, because people want to attend a
university recognized for its success in other fields. It is necessary to study at such a
university as it has schedules, rules and regulations. However the outcome is the same;
studying on a campus or at home, nevertheless the educational environment on both
platforms is somewhat different. All platforms have some basic comparisons and disparities
between on-campus education and home education. The following are the key similarities
and differences between on-campus education and home learning for a student.
For both studying from home with online classes and attaining lessons in campuses have
many similarities, they both require a great deal of hard work and attention from a student;
assignments which are given in both cases, play a huge part in the learning experience for the
person. Giving and receiving feedback from the teacher is essential in the two environments,
the objectives and outcomes are similar in each environment. Mainly in both the situations
require students to manage their own time wisely and efficiently.
Furthermore, studying at home or university, for instance, a student has the freedom to learn
privately without any disruption, a campus student can comfortably learn at the library or
lounge while a student at his/her own residence can study at their home away from any
distractions from anyone.
Mostly of all, a campus student has an active social life as a student who studies at home.
Studying on campus helps one to communicate further with students in various environments.
Such students will make more friends and gain a better social interaction, they can spend
quality time with their friends, they can discuss face to face about any matter with their
friends, and they can also study in groups with their friends at their campus. Similarly, these
are also possible at home. Students who study from home may communicate with their
family during homework, and also connect with classmates or friends via email, or other
social media.
But for both cases students have faced lots of differences also. First of all for studying at
campus or home, classes are compulsory for all of the students. But if we have classes on
campus as regular classes, Studying in typical lessons at campus, students voluntarily take
part in discussions or ask and answer questions. In classroom-based classes, face-to-face
communication creates a special dynamic for every class. Traditional classrooms let students
achieve support and personal relationships from teachers. Traditional classroom instructors
can offer virtually every kind of assessment, from written work to assessments to oral
examinations and presentations. However, in online lessons at home, participation is
mandatory, typically through written discussions in chat rooms or on message boards. In
these cases students lack face-to-face interaction, requiring teachers to use forums, chats and
different online discussion media to build community. Students also lack the chance to get to
know the teacher in-person. Online classes solely provide electronic communication. Online
lessons are more limited in the kinds of assignments students can complete. Usually, online
teachers grade students via papers, open-book examinations and student contributions to
online discussions. Because online students should be self-directed, online teachers generally
plan assignments that are practical in nature.
Secondly, like most students, including myself, have to wake up early in the morning and
have a long journey; wasting valuable time and energy, we have to use public transport such
as bus, rickshaw, micro-bus, etc. to get to university and we all know how expensive public
transport is. If we want to study at university, we will not only spend money on getting to
university, but we will also have to wait on a crowded bus or rickshaw and pray to god that
there would be a free seat in the library at university, otherwise our journey was a waste of
money and time. This not only consumes a lot of energy but also a lot of precious time that
could be even used in doing something more productive. But if we chose to study at home
and attain classes online, not only we save money and get rid of a trip, we can also be assured
a place to study, conserve our energy and save the time we are losing during the journey from
our home to the university.
Thirdly, we know classrooms are meant to be quiet but we still have that one annoying
person who taps the table or interacts with others; the troublemaker, who drops funny
comments, bickering about how bored they are and making their peers lose their
concentration and the back-benchers chattering at their own trance, not giving any attention
to the class lecture making it so noisy that even the most attentive students have difficulties
putting their concentration on their own studies and classroom lectures. However, when we
study at home we don't have anyone around to annoy us so we can just pick up a nice, quiet
room in our house to study there in peace but there's only one room in university and sadly
we have to deal with the distracting people if we choose the university campus for study.
In Conclusion we can say online students slightly outperforming their usual classroom
counterparts, we can most point out that there is little difference in overall performance
between the two formats. Similarly, extroverted students who enjoy face-to-face classroom
interactions may additionally do best in a usual environment; in the meantime introverted
students can also welcome the solitary features of online classes. While these two options
have parallels, it can also be recognized that their pros and cons do have a number of
differences. It is, therefore, necessary to compare and contrast the two choices before a
student makes his mind as to whether to study on campus or from home. The judgment rests
entirely in the student's possession and personal opinions though at the end of the day
studying at a university is often recognized as a more wise option rather than studying at
home.
