Rationale
As the pandemic continues to affect the lives of people all over the world, various sectors of
governments have chosen to adapt other ways and means to continue to provide their services to
the people. These “new normal” practices shall continue to evolve as specialists begin to understand
more aspects of the virus itself.
With schools closed, the Department of Education recommended a shift in the school
calendar and moved the opening of classes to August 24, 2020. Based on the Basic Education
Learning Continuity Plan of DepEd, classes will be delivered using following learning delivery
modalities:
1. Face-to-face – with the pronouncement of the Philippine government that there will be
no face-to-face learning until there is already a vaccine for COVID-19, this modality is not yet
feasible but given the possibility, this is one of learning modalities that is used with
consideration of the required social distancing measures in the classroom set-up.
2. Distance learning – this includes different distance learning modalities such as modular
distance learning, online distance learning and TV/Radio-based instruction.
3. Blended learning – this refers to combination of face-to-face with any or a mix of distance
learning modalities.
4. Home schooling – this is an ADM that aims to provide learners with access to quality basic
education through a home-based environment to be facilitate by qualified parents,
guardians, or tutors who have undergone relevant training.

Cheating could be prevented by shuffling the answer choices by clicking the “shuffle option
order” in the right side of the form.

The second way is the use of add-ons such as Quilgo. This add-on enables the owner to
embed a timer into your Google Forms and collect form submission time.

Narrative Report
The second day of the webinar was spent on making the output for the topics on the first
day. Also, this served as a perfect time for the English teachers and the participants to collaborate
with their respective co teachers in the grade level to create quiz using Google Forms. This is in
preparation for the synchronous and asynchronous classes that will commence on the 5 th of October
2020.
All teachers were encouraged to create their grade level Diagnostic Tests using the different
test types in Google Forms. The Grade level outputs will be presented on the third day of the
webinar.

LMS
Picture 11 shows the meaning of DepEd LMS. It is a tool that teachers can use to deliver
online classes and monitor learner progress. It can be accessed by going to
https://lms.deped.gov.ph/ . To know more about DepEd LMS, the DepEd EdTech Unit (ETU) offers
free webinars to all the teachers via Facebook Live and YouTube Live as seen in Picture 12. Sauyo
High School has also its own LMS. It can be accessed by typing in the Uniform Resource Locator
(URL): 34.96.255.140 as shown in Picture 13.

Picture 14 shows the username and password to be used in accessing the LMS of Sauyo High
School. All teachers must use their depedqc accounts and use the password S@uyoT3ch. Teachers
are encouraged to take extra care in typing the password since it is case sensitive. Pictures 15 and 16
show the steps in uploading lessons to School LMS. In the setting, teachers must turn the editing on
before adding any activities.

the file to be uploaded, teachers may add restriction and change the question’s behavior by going to
the quiz settings. Teachers may choose the option to shuffle the questions so that it will appear in a
different order for each student.

Figure 1 shows the responses of the participants in the two-day webinar conducted by the
English Department. Based on the responses, the webinar was organized, well executed and
activities were coherent to the general program.

Figures 2, 3 and 4 shows the evaluation of the participants to our speakers. Our three
speakers, namely Ms. Elaine Joy D. Otiong, Ms. Maybelle D. Baluran and Mrs. Ma. Emma M. Casulla
were all well-prepared and organized. They had clear and audible voices. Also, the resource speakers
showed their thorough knowledge of the topics by using appropriate techniques. Lastly, they were
able to handle the exchange of ideas from the participants through answering the queries raised
during the discussions.

Figure 5 shows the overall impression of the participants about the webinar. Majority of the
participants strongly agreed that the topics discussed from the webinar were all relevant and
applicable to the current situation, the so called “new normal education”.

Majority of the participants extended their heartfelt gratitude and congratulatory messages to the
speakers as well as to the whole English Department. They said that the webinar was timely,
relevant, and highly recommended. One of the participants commented that the program may be
expanded into multiple sessions.
