Sum of The Angles of A Polygon: Regular Polygon Has All Its Sides The Same Length and All Its Angles The Same Size

The document discusses polygons and formulas for calculating the sum of interior and exterior angles of polygons. It defines a polygon as a plane shape bounded by straight lines, and a regular polygon as having all sides the same length and all angles the same size. It provides formulas for calculating the sum of interior angles of polygons with n sides as (n-2)×180 degrees and the exterior angle of a regular polygon with n sides as 180/n degrees.

Sum of the Angles of A Polygon

A polygon is a plane shape bounded by straight lines e.g. triangle, quadrilateral, pentagon. A
regular polygon has all its sides the same length and all its angles the same size.

If you pick any point inside a polygon then you can draw
lines from all the corners of the figure to make triangles.
In calculating the sum of the interior angles of a polygon
you will multiply the number of triangles by 180

An interior angle is one inside a polygon.

Name of Number Sum of interior angles of the

polygon of sides polygon
Triangle 3 1 x 180 = 180

Quadrilateral 4 2 x 180 = 360
