Introductory Message
For the learner
Welcome to Technology and Livelihood Education (Shielded Metal Arc
Welding) 7 Alternative Delivery Mode (ADM) Module on Storing Tools and
Equipment. One simplest skill that you must know in welding is how to store welding
tools and equipment properly. It is important to be equipped with this skill since it is
also applicable in real situation. This module will give you ideas on how to store
welding tools and equipment so that you can locate them easily and even extend
their lifespan.
Thus, this module was designed to provide you with fun learning opportunities
at your own pace and time. You will be able to process the contents of the learning
resource while being an active learner.
What I Need to Know This will give you an idea of the skills or
competencies you are expected to learn in
the module.
5
What I Have Learned This includes questions or blank
sentence/paragraph to be filled in to process
what you learned from the lesson.
1. Use the module with care. Do not put unnecessary mark/s on any part of the
module. Use your TLE (SMAW) activity notebook in answering the activities.
2. Don’t forget to answer What I Know before moving on to the other activities
included in the module.
3. Read the instruction carefully before doing each task.
4. Observe honesty and integrity in doing the tasks and checking your answers.
5. Finish the task at hand before proceeding to the next.
6. Return this module to your teacher/facilitator once you are through with it.
If you encounter any difficulty in answering the tasks in this module, do not
hesitate to consult your teacher or facilitator. Always bear in mind that you are not
alone.
We hope that through this material, you will experience meaningful learning
and gain deep understanding of the relevant competencies. You can do it!

What I need to know?
This module was designed and written with you in mind so that you will fully
understand the ways of storing tools and equipment in Shielded Metal Arc Welding.
After reading this module, you will be able to store tools and equipment

What is it?
Maintaining the tools and equipment would go hand-in-hand with storing tools
and equipment in welding job. Store as defined in Merriam dictionary is to place or
leave in a location (such as a warehouse, library, or computer memory) for
preservation or later use or disposal). In every welding area, welding tools and
equipment must have its proper places so that it can be located easily.
Tools such as pliers, C-clamps or pull-push rule are handheld devices that
are used to perform a specific function. While equipment, such as welding
machine and welding helmet are things needed for a specific purpose.
Storing tools and equipment properly would not only give you safety but
would also extend the lifespan of your welding tools and equipment. Furthermore,
it would give good weld output.
When it comes to storing your tools you have to consider the area. Tools can
be hung on pegboards or place in toolboxes, bags or in drawers.
Pegboard is the most convenient place to keep your tools. It can help you
locate easily the tools needed at one look. Toolbox is another way of storing your
tools. It is more portable especially for transporting or carrying out your tools during
work.
