• Remote Desktop Services Client Activation Licenses (RDS CALs)
• Per user or per device
• Hardware
• Server grade hardware
• Thin clients and monitors (replacing workstation hardware)
• Solid networking backbone (switches, routers, drops, fiber…)

Steps to Success
Follow these general steps to deploy a FactoryTalk View SE Network Distributed App with ThinManager

 Source and purchase required hardware, software, and licensing


 Deploy a domain controller, or use an existing company domain
 Deploy a reliable network backbone for ThinManager or modify an
existing network
 Deploy or use an existing FactoryTalk View SE HMI server and
FactoryTalk Network Directory
 Deploy a Remote Desktop Services (RDS) Server and install the RDS role
 Install FactoryTalk View SE Client Software in RDS install mode
 Install ThinManager software in RDS install mode
 Join the RDS server to the FactoryTalk Network Directory and install
licenses on the server / point to a network license server
 Create and configure RDS session collection for View SE client
 License and configure ThinManager to deliver content to your first thin
client
 Connect the thin client to the network and point it to the ThinManager
server
