The Learning Curve: Important Terms To Know

Regression analysis is used to determine the relationship between variables. Key terms in regression include p-values and coefficients, which are used to interpret statistical significance and the strength of relationships, respectively. R-squared and adjusted R-squared indicate how well the regression model fits the data. Other important concepts are standard error, outliers, multicollinearity, heteroscedasticity, and overfitting, which should be addressed to perform valid regression analysis.

Regression & Terminologies

Regression is a statistical method/algorithm used across different disciplines in trying to
determine the strength of the relationship between one target/dependent/response variable
(denoted by Y) and either one or multiple predictor/independent/explanatory variables (denoted
by X).

The Lingo and most common terms used in regression analysis are very important to know in
order to help to properly understand and interpret a regression analysis.
