Learning Approach/Methodology for the Program

The training program adopts the use of the 4 A’s of Adult Learning or the

andragogical approach in the delivery of the sessions. Andragogy is an adult learning

process based on a set of assumptions. The six assumptions of andragogy as

explained in the book, “The Adult Learner”, by Knowles, Holton III, and Swanson are:

 Adults need to know they should need to learn something.

 Adult’s self-concept projects new pattern of learning where they become self-

directed, taking responsibility for their own learning and the direction it takes.

 Adults have a lifetime experience and they want to use what they know and want

to be acknowledged for having that knowledge.

 Adults become ready to learn something when they experience a need to learn it

in order to cope more satisfying with real life tasks or problems

 Adults are life-task or problem centered in their orientation to learning.

 Internal rather than external motivations for learning are more important such as

increased job satisfaction, self-esteem and quality of life.

Session guides are provided are provided for trainees use in this package. For the

comprehensive delivery of the sessions, authoritypoint slides will be provided for the

trainees through Compact Disc storage. The development of the session follows a

series using the novelty type of delivery anchored on the andragogical and pedagogical

principles of learning.

The session guides include the main content such as Session Title, Duration, Key

Understanding, Objectives, and Resources Needed for the session.
