Reflection on Andragogy
Humans have exceptional analytical skills. Making humans the head of the ecosystem
food chain. Humans have inherited powers that make them more dominant than most animals or
races. Humans, on the other hand, have a variety of learning styles. Human intelligence and
comprehension skills are also affected by age. Learning is inherently unstable, progressing in a
variety of directions, and humans are the greatest learners. A higher age correlates with increased
concentration, comprehension, and awareness. As a result, one's age has an impact on their
ability to comprehend information. That is why andragogy, or the method of educating adults, is
important in adult education.

Andragogy is a philosophy that is based on a series of theories regarding adult learning.


Andragogy stresses the importance of the learning experience. It emphasizes more equity
between the teacher and the learner by using problem-based and constructive learning methods
rather than didactic ones. Andragogy, according to Knowles, is the art and science of assisting
adults in learning, as opposed to pedagogy, which is concerned with assisting children in
learning. Its features, or Malcolm Knowles' assumptions, stress the importance of self-learning
for adults who need to acquire academic experience as well as other skills. Self-motivation, self-
awareness, and the desire to act are all essential skills for someone who wants to solve and
resolve challenges. Adult learning is driven by four andragogical concepts, according to
Knowles. It's about problem-solving adult learners, their experiences, and the importance and
effect on their lives. In 1984, Knowles added the fifth assumption. There are five
assumptions/characteristics of adult learners in general. The self-concept, adult learner
background, ability to learn, learning orientation, and desire to learn are all factors to consider.

Adult learners can benefit from andragogy because it allows them to use more wisdom
gained from experience and solve challenges in their lives. Learning is inherently unstable, and
life does continue to go on. Adults will have more space to fill in their deep comprehension and
learning applying expertise, as well as improve or expand their abilities, thanks to andragogy.
