I. DESIGN CRITERIA
1.1 APPLICABLE CODES OF PRACTICE
The following codes, standards, and references were used in the design of the Structural Works.
1) National Structural Code of the Philippines (NSCP) C101-01, 7 th Edition, 2015
2) Uniform Building Code (UBC) 1997 Edition, International Conference of Building Officials
3) American Concrete Institute (ACI) Publications
a. Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and Commentary – American Concrete
Institute (ACI 318)
b. Details and Detailing of Reinforcement for Concrete
4) American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC 360-10)

1.2 DESIGN LOADINGS

1.2.1 Superimposed Dead Load

Roof = 0.5KN/m

The loads of the architectural finishes shall be reviewed and re-assessed accordingly as the design develops.

1.2.2 Live Load

Roof (KPa) = 0.5KN/m

1.2.3 Earth and Hydrostatic Load

Earth and hydrostatic pressures will be considered if these are applicable. The pressures/loadings will be
calculated based on the following material densities:

Soil Unit Weight = 18.0 kN/m3

Water = 9.81 kN/m3

1.2.4 Lateral Loads

1.2.4.1 Wind Loads

The building structure will be designed to withstand wind forces carried by
the Components and Cladding (C&C) which is then transferred to the Main
Wind Force-Resisting System (MWFRS) accordance with NSCP 2015 with a
50 year return period using the following parameters:
 Design Code : NSCP 2015
 Basic Wind Speed : 250 kph
 Design Wind Pressure, Pnet : λ*Kzt*Pnet
