SECTION 1 - Sigma Elite Chamber Setup - Base System


Before the Tescom control valve CVI program and Sigma Elite application can be loaded onto the chamber
touchscreen computer, the chamber touchscreen computer needs to have certain settings modified to
improve performance and provide a common stable platform for the Elite system. The settings that need to
be adjusted appear in the following sections. This section presumes the technician has a thorough
understanding of some of the common desktop modifications that can be made to any personal computer
running the Microsoft XP Professional operating system.
1.1 Touchscreen Computer Configuration
1.1.1 Change (start menu) to classic view
 Right click the Task Bar at the bottom of the screen
 Select properties

 Uncheck “hide inactive icons”


 Select the Start Menu tab
 Select Classic Start menu
 Select Customize

 Under “Advanced Start menu options”:


 Uncheck “use personalized menus”
 Check “show small icons in start menu”
 Select OK
 Select OK

1.1.2 Adjust performance


 Right click my computer
 Select properties

 Select advanced
 Under “performance” select settings

 Select “adjust for best performance”

 Select OK.

 Select “date and time”


 Adjust as needed
 Select “time zone”
 On the drop down menu, select “(GMT-05:00 Eastern Time Zone (US & Canada)”
 Assure that “Auto adjust for daylight savings time” is checked.
 Select OK.
1.1.4 Adjust power options
 From the Control Panel, select power options
 Under power schemes tab, select “never” for:
 “turn off monitor”
 “turn off hard disks”
 “system standby”
 “system hibernates”

 Select OK
 Exit control panel.
NOTE: System hibernate may be located on an alternate tab, determine and select “never” as
applicable and exit the control panel when finished.
1.1.5 Copy windows explorer shortcut to start menu
 Select start
 Select programs
 Select accessories
 Right click and hold “windows explorer” icon and drag it to the start menu above “programs”.
 Release
 Select “copy here”.
1.1.6 Set folder options
 Select start
 Select windows explorer
 Select view
 Select “details”
 Select tools
 Select folder options
 Under the “general” tab:
 Select “use windows classic folders”
 Select “view” tab
 Under “folder views”, select “apply to all folders”.
 Under “advanced settings”
 Check “do not cache thumbnails”
 Uncheck “hide extensions for known file types”
 Uncheck “show pop-up description for folder and desktop items”
 Select OK
 Exit windows explorer.
1.2 PenMount Touchscreen Calibration
 Right click the “PM” icon in the lower right corner of the Task Bar
 Select “control panel”
 Under “device”, select (highlight) “PenMount 9000R”
 Select configure
 Under the “Device 0 (PenMount 9000 RS232)” screen “calibrate” tab:

 Select “standard calibration”


 Touch and hold the red squares with a stylus as indicated
 Select OK
 Select OK
1.3 Program Installation & Support Files
 Select Start
 Select Windows Explorer
 Navigate to the “C” drive / select (highlight) “Local Disk (C)”. On the explorer bar at the top,
select file / new / folder, then create a new folder named “Perry Installation Files”. When the
new folder is created, you can just type it in.
 Insert the (load files) memory stick & copy the contents of the folder “Perry Installation Files” to
the newly created directory or folder on the target machine. Optionally, skip the folder creation
step above and copy the memory stick “Perry Installation Files” folder directly to the “Local Disk
(C)” directory.
 At the bottom of the task bar / right click the removable disk icon / select “safely remove
hardware” icon. Stop the removable disk (memory stick) and when stopped, remove the
memory stick.
For reference, the contents of the “Perry Installation Files” are as follows: Note – the users manual
has to have its name changed to that shown below in order for the software to find the file. If the
file has not been renamed, do so before proceeding. Additionally, some of the referenced install
files are not listed here, but are identified in the install procedure itself.
Adobe Reader version 5.0.5: rp505enu.exe
Elite user manual: Manual.pdf
Modbus IP Assign: IPAssign.exe
Screen Print Gold: spg3.exe
Sigma Elite application (applicable version): SigmaElite_Installer.zip
SQL Compact Edition: SSCERuntime-ENU.msi
System Support Files: as required
Tescom CVI ER3000 valve application: rev_c.zip
Ultra VNC remote connect application: UltraVNC.zip
WinZip decompression program: WINZIP32.EXE / winzip81sr1.exe
 Install Adobe Acrobat Reader by double clicking on the rp505enu.exe file in the “Perry
Installation Files” folder. Allow the standard installation to take place.
Install WinZip as follows:
 Double-click WINZIP32.EXE in the “Perry Installation Files” folder.
 When prompted select “Start with the WinZip Wizard”

 Select next
 Allow WinZip to search for “Favorite Zip Folders”
 When search is complete and WinZip says it found folders to add to favorites, select “Next”.
 Select next when “associations” is requested
 Select close when installation completes.

Optionally, if the later (winzip81sr1.exe) WinZip version is loaded,


 Select “Custom setup (for advanced users)”
 When prompted select next.
 On the explorer configuration screen:
 uncheck “Include WinZip Quick Pick in the toolbar tray”
 uncheck “Include WinZip in start menu”
 uncheck “Include WinZip on desktop”
 Select next
 Select next
 Select finish
 If shown, close the WinZip “tip of the day” popup
 Exit program.
1.4 Tescom CVI ER3000 Program
 Double-click the rev_c.zip file located in the Tescom CVI folder, WinZip should launch.
 Select next
 Select “no” if prompted to “add the installation file to a favorites folder”.
 Select “unzip or install from “rec_c.zip”
 Select “next”
 Select “unzip now” and allow for the default installation and directory.
 Navigate to the newly created (Tescom) “rev_c” folder
 Open the “win32bit” folder

 Select “SETUP.EXE” and double-click to install, then select “finish”.

 Allow default installation and load destination.


 Exit the setup program, close WinZip, and return to Windows.
 Press the Tescom ER controller “reset” button at the bottom-right side of the control console
(square green button with green LED).
 In the Start menu, double-click on the ER3000 program.

 When warned that “dll may be in use by another program”:


 Set Tescom-RS232 comms port to “Com_1”
 Note: If a dialog box opens saying “Com port in Use” the Sigma Elite program has already
been installed, reset to “Com_2” then back again to “Com_1”. This should clear the error.

From the ER3000 control panel, “window” tab, select “tuning”, “advanced” button.
 Assure or enter the following values as shown:
Default ER “tune” variables:
Control Mode: External Feedback
Sensor Range (Minimum): 0.00
Sensor Range (Maximum): 30.00
Units: psi
Proportional Term: 5000
Integral Term: 500
Derivative Term: 200
Integral Minimum: -10
Integral Maximum: 64
Integral Deadband: 0.00
Ext FB Source: External Feedback
Minimum Pulse Width (Inlet): 12
Minimum Pulse Width (Exhaust): 22
Exit (tuning) screen.
From the “window” tab, select “failsafe”. Assure or enter the following min/max default
“failsafe” values:

Analog Setpoint: -3.33 103.33 (-1.0 psi / +31.0 psi)


Internal Sensor: disabled disabled
External Sensor: -3.33 105.00 (-1.0 psi / +31.5 psi)
Inner Error: disabled disabled
Outer Error: -1.67 1.67 (+/- .5 psi)
Failsafe Condition: Inlet Closed / Exhaust Closed
Exit (failsafe) screen.
From the “window” tab, select “miscellaneous”. Assure or enter the following default
“miscellaneous” values are set:
Span (%): 100.00
Zero (%): 0.00
Node Number 250 (same for all)
Feedback Filter: On
Solenoid: Normal
Serial Number: (record on chamber paperwork)
Version Number: 937 (firmware version number)
Exit (miscellaneous) screen.
From the “window” tab, select “pulse”. Assure or enter the following default “pulse”
variables are set:
Pulsing: disabled
Period: 12
Width: 8
Deadband: 3
Exit (pulse) screen.
Exit CVI toolbar.

1.5 Install Sigma Elite Application


 Double click on the C:\Perry Installation Files\Sigma Elite application\SigmaElite_installer.msi file.
 Allow for default install.
1.6 Create Encryption File
 Double click the C:\Perry Installation Files\Sigma Elite Encryption File\CreateEncrypt.exe file.
 The encryption program will prompt you for IP address, user name and password. Replace <IP
Address>, including the bracketed fields (remove the brackets also) with IP address “10.0.X.29”
(ROW 1), where “X” is the facility or customer identifying number. Do not include the
parentheses.
 Enter “SEChamber” for the database user name (ROW 21) and “SECtest5” (ROW 22) for the
database password (no parentheses).
 The encryption file basic format and a formatted example shown below:
Data Source=<IP Address>\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=DBSigmaElite;User=<Username>;pwd=<Password>;Encrypt=True;TrustServerCertificate=true

 Close the encryption program.


 Move the newly created file “SigmaEliteSettings.xml” file to the following directory:
C:\Program Files\Perry Baromedical\SigmaElite
 NOTE: If the installation is for Sigma Elite BASIC, use “(local)” as the IP address as shown
below. In this case, the parentheses are needed.
Data Source=(local)\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=DBSigmaElite;User=SEChamber;pwd=SECtest5;Encrypt=True;TrustServerCertificate=true

1.7 Install Microsoft SQL Server 2005


 Install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 by double clicking on “SQLEXPR service pack 3.EXE” on
the thumb drive.
 Accept licensing agreement.
 Click Next.

 The Prerequisites screen will be displayed.


 Press Install.
 When the prerequisite items are selected, click Next.

 The installation wizard will be displayed.

 Click Next.
 The system configuration check screen will be displayed.

 Press Next.
 The Registration screen will be displayed.
 Enter:
o Name: Sigma Elite
o Company: Perry Baromedical Corporation
o Select “Hide Advanced configuration Options”.

 Press Next.
 The feature Selection screen will be displayed.

 Press Next.
 The Authentication screen will be displayed.
 Select “Mixed Mode”
 Type in the SQL 2005 server password: (ROW 18) twice.

 Press Next.
 Under Configuration Options, uncheck all items.

 Press Next.
 Under Error and Usage Report settings, uncheck all items.

 Click Next.
 The Install screen will be displayed.

 Press Install.
 The Setup Progress screen will be displayed.

 When the Setup Progress screen finishes, press Next.


 The SQL Complete screen will be displayed.

 Press Finish.
1.8 Set SQL Server Browser to Run Automatically
 Start the SQL Server Configuration Manager.
o Go to Start – All Programs – Microsoft SQL Server 2005 –n Configuration Tools and select
SQL Server Configuration Manager
o Click on SQL Server 2005 Services
o Right click on SQL Server Browser and select properties.

o Select the service tab.


o Change the start mode to “automatic” using the drop down menu.
o Click OK.

 Under SQL Server Configuration Manager (local) / SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration /
Protocols for SQLExpress,
o Highlight and Right click on TCP/IP.
o Select Properties

o In the Protocol tab, Highlight “Enabled” and select “Yes”

o Highlight IP Address tab.


o Scroll to the bottom of the screen, Select IPAll
o For TCP Port type in 2301
o Delete 0 on the TCP Dynamic Ports (it is left blank)
o Click OK

o Click OK when the confirm message is shown.


o SQL Server will be automatically added to the Start menu.
o Remove (eject) any USB thumbdrives still installed in any USB ports.
o Restart the PC
 Once SQL Server 2005 has been loaded, complete the remainder of the following installation
steps, including the connection test in Section 1.16. This will create the local database.

1.9 Ultra VNC Viewer Installation


 Install and configure UltraVNC.zip.
 Select “full” installation option.
 Start UltraVNC and change the password to (ROW 4).
 Right-click the “UltraVNC” Server icon located either on the start menu or in the UltraVNC
programs folder, and copy it to the “Programs/Start” folder.
1.10 Touchscreen Computer IP Addresses
1.10.1 Set computer (Modbus coupler) primary default IP address
 From the task bar, select start
 Select “settings”
 Double-click network connections.
 Highlight “Local Area Connection 1”
 Right click and select “properties”.
 Under the “Local Area Connection Properties” (general) tab, under “This connection uses the
following items:”
 Scroll down and highlight “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)”
 Select “properties”.
 Under the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties” (general) tab, select “Use the following IP
address:”
 Enter the following:
Local Area Connection IP Settings
IP address: 192.168.1.187
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.1.188
Use the following DNS server addresses
Preferred DNS server: blank / blank / blank / blank
Alternate DNS server: blank / blank / blank / blank
 Select OK
 Select “close”.
1.10.2 Set chamber computer IP address
NOTE: skip setting the IP address if the installation is for Sigma Elite BASIC or DEMO.
 Highlight “Local Area Connection 2”
 Right click and select “properties”.
 Under the “Local Area Connection Properties” (general) tab, under “This connection uses the
following items:”
 Scroll down and highlight “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)”
 Select “properties”.
 Under the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties” (general) tab, select “Use the following IP
address:”
 Enter the following:
Local Area Connection IP Settings
IP address: (ROW 1)
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.224

Default gateway: (ROW 2)


Use the following DNS server addresses
Preferred DNS server: blank / blank / blank / blank
Alternate DNS server: blank / blank / blank / blank
 Select OK
 Select “close”
1.10.3 Disable un-needed network connections
 Highlight “Wireless Network Connection”
 Right click and select “disable”.
 Highlight “Local Area Connection 4”
 Right click and select “disable”.
 Exit the network connections screen.
1.11 Phoenix Contact Remote IO Module - Installation & Configuration
 Assure that (Modbus) ethernet cable is plugged into port 1 on the console computer.
 From the “Perry Installation Files” folder/”Modbus IP Assign” sub-folder, launch the
IPAssign.exe application.
 Run IPAssign and click Next to access the IP Address Request Listener screen.
 Wait for the IPAssign program to receive a MAC address from the Modbus coupler. If the
Modbus coupler does not reply, with an address, within approximately one minute, disconnect
and reconnect the Modbus power (wiring) connector.

 Select “Show only Phoenix contact devices”.


 Select the MAC address and click next to access the Set IP address screen.
 Set the IP Address to 192.168.1.188 (the registry parameter) with subnet mask of
255.255.255.0 and gateway 0.0.0.0 and click next.
 Cycle power on the bus coupler (not needed if IPAssign is successful).
 IPAssign will then show the IP address on the “Congratulations” screen.
 Start Internet Explorer and enter 192.168.1.188 into the IE address bar, press enter.
 The Phoenix IL ETH BK Homepage will be displayed.
 Select “inline station” from the home page menu
 Select “disable” for “Plug&Play-Mode”
 Enter “private” for the password
 Select “apply”.
 Select “process data monitoring” on the inline station menu
 Enter 10000 for the “process data watchdog timeout”

 Enter “private” for the password


 Select “apply”.
 Exit the Modbus coupler homepage screen and close Internet Explorer.
1.12 Network Printer Installation
Using a network cable, connect the printer to the Sonic Wall or Network switch.
Press the wrench button on the printer.
Using the printer menu set the printer IP addresses.
Example:
Printer IP = 10.0.X.28 where “X” is the facility identifier (ROW 17)
Subnet mask = 255.255.255.224
Default Gateway = 10.0.X.30 where “X” is the facility identifier (ROW 2)
Add Printer:
 Go to the Start menu and select Printers and Faxes.
 Double click on “add a Printer”. This will start the Add Printer wizard. Press Next.
 Select the “Local printer attached to this computer” option and uncheck the “Automatically
detect and install my Plug and Play printer” box.

 Select “Create a new Port” and select “Standard TCP/IP Port” from the drop down menu.
 Click Next.

 The “Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard” screen appears.


 Click Next.
 Type in the newly created IP address of the Network Printer (ROW 17).
 Click Next.

 If a message “A port with that name already exists” is displayed, go to “Port Already Exists” in
the Errors Section at the end of this document.
 Choose the Make and Model of the printer. Example: Make = HP, Modal = HP Officejet 4500
G510g-m. If the printer is not listed, press Have Disk and select the printer directory on the
thumb drive. Click OK.
 Click Next

 Select “Yes” for the “Do you want to use this printer as the Default printer” option.
 Click Next

 Click “Do not share this printer” selection.

 If the Wizard needs a file, Browse to the Perry Installation Files\Network printer OJ4500G510g-
m (D) directory on the thumb drive and find the file.
 Click OK
 Click Finish.

 A Test page will print on the printer.


 Exit the Wizard and Add Printer window.
1.13 Assign Chamber Name
 Right click on the My Computer icon on the desk top and select “Properties” from the list.
 Select the Computer Name tab.

 Select the “Change” button.


 Enter pre-assigned name from the master IP address (ROW 3) and click OK.

 Click OK and exit the System Properties window.


1.14 System Cleanup & Icon Removal
 Delete BlueSoleil shortcut icon from startup menu.
 Delete the WinZip Quick Pick icon from the startup menu.
 Open windows explorer and navigate to the “C:\Program Files\Perry Baromedical\Sigma Elite”
folder.
 Locate “Manual.pdf” and delete it.
 Navigate to the “Perry Installation Files” folder.
 Right click “Manual.pdf” and copy it to the “Sigma Elite” folder specified above.
 Navigate to the “C:\Windows” folder.
 Locate “winvnc.exe” and rename to “winvnc.111".
 Exit Windows Explorer.
 Delete all (program installed) icons from desktop.
 Empty recycle bin
 Reboot system.
1.15 Database Connection Test - Sigma Elite BASIC
 If the chamber is set up in “BASIC” mode, the database will have to be installed locally.
 Assure that SQL Server 2005 has been loaded and configured onto the local machine as per
the steps shown in Section 1.7. Check that the firewall has been installed and configured
properly.

 From the command line, ping the Perry home office computer (10.0.0.3) to establish a
connection.
 Download and install the database script files.
 Disconnect from the home office computer and restart the system.
 The touchscreen should start and the progress bar should run left to right without any errors.
Login using “a” / “a” for the default user name and password. If the system starts normally,
select “Logoff” to exit and shutdown the chamber.
1.16 Gage & Alarm Calibration (CVI variables & tolerance settings)
These settings are needed to set the variables and tolerance limits for the Tescom CVI controller
program and gauge settings. Normally these settings are entered using the CVI / Tescom “failsafe”
variables window listed in Section 1.4. They are listed here for reference.
Chamber Pressure -
 Low limit = -1.0 psi (set to -3.33)
 Over pressure limit = 31.5 psi (set to +105.00)
Set Pressure & Rate Set Regulator Transducer Limits -
 Low threshold > 0 psi with no alarm (set to -3.33)
 High threshold < 31 psi with no alarm (set to +103.33)
Treatment Pressure Feedback Signal Tolerance Limits -
 Over / under limits = plus or minus ½ psi (set to -1.67 & +1.67)
