Growth and Characterization of L-Proline Sodium Sulphate: Single Crystals

This document is a project report submitted by S. Melba Dally for the partial fulfillment of a Master of Science degree in Physics. The project involved growing L-proline sodium sulphate single crystals by the slow evaporation technique and characterizing the grown crystals using X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and UV-visible spectroscopy. The document includes an introduction to crystals, amino acids, L-proline, and sodium sulphate. It also includes a literature review and the methodology used for crystal growth and characterization.

ABSTRACT

Optically good quality single crystals of L-Proline Sodium

Sulphate single crystals were grown by slow evaporation
technique. The grown crystals have been subjected to powder X-
ray diffraction studies to identify the crystalline nature. The
presence of functional groups was confirmed from FTIR analysis.
Transmittance of these grown crystals were analyzed using UV-
Vis-NIR studies.
