Some caveats

• R&D inertia
• Government Inertia
• Still the U.S. Department of Energy

• No announcements today

U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY OFFICE OF ENERGY EFFICIENCY & RENEWABLE ENERGY 2

Major needs we are hearing about on GUV:

• Validation activities/materials: CALiPER, GATEWAY

• Convening collaborations and engagement
• Integration: studies in real building settings
• Technology development: metrology, SSL sources
• Standards: dose guidelines, industry-led activities, (e.g., luminaire
performance reporting)

• Photobiology: disinfection action spectra, efficaciousness criteria, human

safety impacts
