Principles of Quality Assurance Quality
QUALITY
According to ISO 9000:2000 the definition of QUALITY is the degree to which a set of inherent
characteristics fulfils requirements [ CITATION ISO05 \l 2057 ].
Quality assurance is a process of preventing faults, losses, wastes and defects in manufactured
products. Well, it is concerned with the way a process is performed or the product is developed.
It focuses on planning, implementing, evaluating, and complying with the standards that are
needed to assure quality in the products[ CITATION Bus21 \l 2057 ].
Quality assurance principles that differentiate it from quality control is that quality assurance is
performed during the project to help make sure the product meets the quality
standards[ CITATION Mar21 \l 2057 ].
It is a management method that is defined as “all those planned and systematic actions needed
to provide adequate confidence that a product, service or result will satisfy given requirements
for quality and be fit for use, It is a recreational water monitoring program will, apart from
helping to ensure that the results obtained are correct, increase the confidence of funding
bodies and the public. Quality Assurance extends to all aspects of data collection from sanitary
surveys to laboratory procedures[ CITATION Bar00 \l 2057 ].
Principles of Quality Assurance
There are two main principles of quality assurances, which are discussed as under[ CITATION Son16 \l
2057 ]:
Fit for purpose: According to this principle, the product should fit the desired purpose, i.e. the
product should serve the objective for which it has been developed.
Right first time: As per this convention, the product developed must be free from any defects,
when it is created. It is also termed as a zero-defect approach.
Quality Assurance
Is a preventive method that aims at improving the quality of product and services, as well as the level of
productivity by laying stress on the product design and the related processes. It ensures that the
designing of the product should be such that the deviations are minimum. Its main aim is to [ CITATION
Mar21 \l 2057 ]:
I. To maintain standards & specification for all raw material & finished product.
II. To give service to company in all areas related to product quality includes trouble shooting, visiting,
production, facilities, designing and training Quality control panel.
III. To produce information that is accurate, reliable, and adequate for the intended purpose.
IV. Evaluating performance, service, of the quality of a product against a system, standard or specified
requirement for customers.
Quality Assurance is the responsibility of the quality assurance department.
The mission of a quality assurance department is to provide an effective and efficient quality assurance
system and counsel for the operational units. The quality assurance department must be manned by an
adequate number of dedicated and adequately qualified and trained personnel with well-developed
interpersonal skills. The well-developed interpersonal skills will provide the quality assurance personnel
with persuasive, diplomatic, tactful and resilient qualities generally required of them.
Quality assurance department must operate independently from the operational units and it must
regularly perform quality review activities (self-inspection audits/internal audits) to ensure compliance
within operational units with Company quality standards, good working practices [GxPs: current Good
Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), GCP, etc.], and local, national, regional
and international legal, ethical and regulatory requirements[ CITATION Man11 \l 2057 ].
