Svmpc1: Installation Manual

The document provides installation instructions for the SVMPC1 controller in 3 steps: 1. Check equipment and network requirements. This includes verifying the DTA116A51 device is installed and networked, indoor unit addresses are set, and the network can use DHCP. 2. Set up the network parameters and connect the SVM controller. This involves getting network information, setting the WiFi router's DHCP range if needed, using software to find the SVM's IP address, and configuring network, time zone and device connection settings via a web interface. 3. Connect the DTA116A51 to the SVM controller using an RS485 to USB converter cable and reboot the SVM controller to complete the installation.

Before Installation
Before install SVMPC1, please check below things.

(1) Confirm below equipment are prepared.

• SVM controller
• AC adaptor for SVM controller
• RS485-USB converter
• LAN cable (for SVM controller to WiFi router connection)

Figure 1: SVMPC1 equipment

(2) Check if DTA116A51 is installed to VRV system.

RS485 cable has to be run from DTA116A51 to the place to install SVM controller.
DTA116A51 communication setting has to be set as below.
• Communication speed: 19200bps
• Stop bit: 1 DS1 DS2
• Parity: EVEN
• Address: 1
1 2 3 4 1 2 3 4
Figure 2: DTA116A51 dip switch settings

(3) Check if VRV indoor units are set D3 address.

(4) Check network environment.

SVMPC1 requires internet connection for clock synchronization of SVM controller.
Please check if SVM controller can connect to internet accessible network.
If SVM controller does not have internet accessibility, schedule function will not
work at the correct time.

Additionally, please check if the network can use DHCP (automatic address
assigning) function. SVM controller does not have IP address at the initial.
Therefore, if the network cannot use DHCP, no one can access to the SVM controller
on the network. In such case, other network is necessary to setup network parameter.
After setup network parameter for the SVM controller, DHCP function does not
necessary for the network.

Installation Procedure
Please follow installation procedure to install and setup SVM.

1: Get network information and decide network parameters for SVM

controller .
(A) Please get below network parameters for SVM controller to connect to
customer’s network(LAN).
• IP address
• Netmask
• Default Gateway
• DNS server IP address
(B) If WiFi connection is used, please get below WiFi access parameters also.
• SSID
• PIN code
(C) If there are no person managing the network.
Almost of the cases, WiFi router is used in a default setting. In such case, you
can get network information with below procedure.

1: Connect your PC to the network using WiFi

SSID and password is described on the back panel of the WiFi router.
If these parameters is changed, please ask to customer.
2: Confirm network setting of your PC and take a note of below parameters.
• IP address – (i)
• Netmask – (ii)
• Default Gateway – (iii)
• DNS server IP address – (iv)

3: Decide SVM controller network parameters.

You have to decide SVM controller network parameter like below.
• IP address for SVM controller: use part of IP address(i)
IP address (i) . . .

IP address for SVM controller . . .2

• Netmask for SVM controller: use same value of Netmask (ii)
• Default Gateway for SVM controller: user same value of Gateway(iii)
• DNS server IP address for SVM controller: user same value of DNS server(iv)

* If the last digit of IP address (i) is less than 20, WiFi router setting has
to change. Please refer “2: WiFi router setting” (P.3).
Check if last digit is less
IP address (i) . . . than 20 or not.
