Biography Project Directions

Directions for Biography of Important Historical Individual Impacting People-Plant relationships
1. Each student has been assigned an individual to research.
2. Biography must be 1 page minimum – 2 page maximum (not including bibliography) 12pt. text 3. Biography must be submitted electronically using Microsoft word, Google Docs, or saved as a PDF and submitted by the due date to receive full credit. Late assignments will receive a reduction in points. 4. Student submissions must be made using Moodle; no emailed projects will be accepted. 5. This project is 1/6th of the course grade; approximately 16% of the total grade. 6. Format: Outline is highly recommended; headings must be clearly labeled. 7. The biography must include: a. Student’s name, course name, date b. Assigned historical person’s name, date of birth and death. c. Image or likeness of the historical individual. d. Field of Study e. Professional Title or Credential (what is this person known as? Did they obtain a college degree? Did they obtain Honorary Degree or Award? Where they awarded any accolades?) f. Summary of Accomplishments as they relate to the People-Plant relationship (what crops or plants did they work with? What concepts did they teach? What processes did they invent or improve? What did they do in their profession that made them a notable historical individual?) g. Impact on today’s society (how has their contribution affected what we have today?) h. The population or industry that has been impacted by their contribution. i. Other findings or influences not listed above – fun facts, etc. 8. Bibliography (references and citations): not included in 2 page maximum. a. Bibliography must include a minimum of 3 acceptable sources. b. Acceptable sources DO NOT include Wikipedia. If using on-line sources, look for “.edu” or “.gov” (do not use “.com”). It is HIGHLY encouraged to reach out to BCC Library Sources and librarians for assistance. c. Use A.P.A. format. (web based programs such as Citation Machine ). d. A url is NOT sufficient. Listing only the url will result in a loss of points. 9. Students will submit their Biography project into Moodle where it can be viewed by ALL students in class. Students will be required to review peer submissions to obtain content that will appear on tests and quizzes.
