Introduction
The human hair is one of the important parts of the human body that signifies
identity and denotes beauty. It consists of a tough protein called fibrous
keratin. It is a simple structure that possesses multiple benefits.
Hair fibres are not continuous in their full length, but rather result from
compact groups of cells within the fibres follicle, from which three further
basic morphological components of hair structure originates: the multicellular
cuticle sheath, the fibrous cortex, and the medulla.
Many individuals suffer hair loss daily. This hair loss subsequently results in
baldness in both males and females.
Many factors cause hair loss in males and females even in children. Some of
these factors include Hereditary, Changes in Hormones, Stress, Anagen
effluvium, Medication, Alopecia areata, Pregnancy, Exposure to Radiation,
Nutritional deficiency, Traction alopecia, Scalp infection, Scalp psoriasis, and
Tight hairstyle.
Many individuals do not know that hair loss can experience a regrowth, in
that sense, they give up and think continuing with bald hair is their next
option.
Well, I have good news for you if you have given up on your hair. I am here
to introduce Doctor Sebi's alkaline herbal remedy for hair loss to you. The
Doctor Sebi herbs help in rejuvenating the hair and bring about regrowth of
the hair.
Chapter 1
The Beauty of the Human Hair
The human hair consists of a tough protein called fibrous keratin. It is a
simple structure that possesses multiple benefits.
Hair fibres are not continuous in their full length, but rather result from
compact groups of cells within the fibres follicle, from which three further
basic morphological components of hair structure originates: the multicellular
cuticle sheath, the fibrous cortex and the medulla (Franbourg A et al., 2003).
There is a protective layer covering the core of the fibers that produce the
cuticles. The fibers are mainly composed of keratins and display a scaled
structure, possessing between seven and ten superimposed layers with the
cuticle edges pointing toward the tip of the fibre (Swift JA., 1999).
Therefore, the hair fibers have the following structures
1. The cuticle
2. The cortex.
3. The medulla
The cuticle possesses several flat and thin layers that are arranged on
themselves somewhat as roof shingles.
The cortex possesses the keratin bundles in cell structures that appear as
rough rod-like structures.
On the other hand, the medulla is a muddled and open area located at the
fiber's center.
The body is covered with follicles that produce thick terminal and fine vellus
hair. Hair follicles hold each hair fiber into the head skin.
The hair bulb forms the base of the hair follicle. In the hair bulb, living cells
split and develop to build the hair shaft. Blood vessels nourish the cells in the
hair bulb and deliver hormones that modify hair growth and structure at
different times of life.
The hair is very important in the sense that its growth, types, and care is an
important biomaterial composed of proteins and keratin.
The hair is known to have two significant structures which includes
The part beneath the skin called the hair follicle which is located
in the dermis and performs its functions in the maintenance of
stem cells. It also allows hair to grow when pulled out.
The shaft, known as the hard filamentous part that lengthens
above the skin surface. A cross-section of the hair shaft may be
divided roughly into three zones.
How Does Hair Grow?
The hair of every individual grows at different rates among people. However,
two individuals may experience hair growth at the same time.
In a month, the average hair growth rate is about half an inch. Hence, the hair
grows in the following stages;
The growth stage (Anagen).
The transitional phase (Catagen).
The resting stage (Telogen).
At the growth stage, hair grows at any time and can spend many years at this
stage without any problem.
At the transitional stage, the follicle of the hair follicle contracts within 2-3
weeks and most times the hair grows gradually.
At the resting stage, the old hair removes from the follicles within few
months and hair growth stops. However, the growth of new hair starts as its
return to the growth stage. Hence, the old hair falls out.
What are the Functions and Benefits of the Hair?
The human hair helps in performing different functions. The provision of
thermal regulation is determined by the hair. When the environment is
unpleasant, it provides defensive functions.
The human hair is also composed of sensory function which helps in
spreading the sense of touch beyond the skin surface. The human hair covers
the most body in different lengths, textures, and thicknesses.
The functions of human hair include the following:
Regulation of body temperature.
Protection.
Improving a sense of touch.
Serves as a mode of identification.
Redirect water and sweat.
Regulation of the body temperature
The hair helps in the regulation of the body temperature in the sense that
when the environment is unfavorable, it balances itself. Hence, when you are
in an environment with a very low temperature, your muscles relax thereby
causing them to pull the hair into an upright position. These erect strands trap
air and serve as insulation to protect the body from the cold.
This shows the reason why an individual who has more hair feels warmer
than someone without hair. In the case of very hot temperatures, the effect is
the reverse.
Therefore, when your sweat glands secrete sweat that evaporates to cool you
down, the muscles relax, making the hair lie plane to discharge heat.
Protection
The hair protects the skin from sun damage and chapped skin from wind
damage. It also hinders dust and dirt from staying on the skin.
Improving a sense of touch
Displacement and vibration of hair shafts are detected by hair follicle nerve
receptors and nerve receptors within the skin. Hairs can sense movements of
air as well as touch by physical objects and they provide sensory awareness
of the presence of ectoparasites (Dean, I.; Siva-Jothy, M. T., 2011).
Serves as a mode of identification
Your hair may serve as a mode of identification in the sense that a strand of
your hair collected can be used for crime detection in forensic studies. Also,
your hair is an ultimate form of expression for you.
Redirect water and sweat
The hair also collects sweat from the skin to hinder it from irritating friction
and it also redirects sweat so that certain parts of the body can dry faster and
stay protected.
Hormonal Response Involve in Hair Growth
Some hormones help in facilitating hair growth. The hormonal response is
very important in the growth of human hair.
Androgens help in the stimulation of hair growth in puberty. The changes
show the rise in plasma androgens. It stimulates tiny vellus follicles
producing fine, virtually colorless, almost invisible hairs to transform into
larger, deeper follicles forming longer, thicker, more pigmented hairs.
Follicles must pass through the hair cycle, regenerating the lower follicle to
carry out such changes. Although androgens stimulate hair growth in many
areas, causing greater hair growth on the face, upper pubic diamond, chest,
etc. in men, they can also have the opposite effect on specific scalp areas,
often in the same individual, causing balding (R. Smoum, M. Srebnik, 2005).
An increasing amount of estrogen in the body helps in the growth of full
thick hair, while low estrogen levels lead to thin and stalled hair growth,
which subsequently results in loss of hair. most women experience an
increase and reduced amount of estrogen through the years. Puberty is
normally related to high estrogen levels as a woman starts undergoing a
menstrual cycle.
When a woman is in the Pregnancy stage, there is an increase in the
production after delivery; the mother can experience a drop in estrogen
levels, which can result in thinning and loss of hair. Hence, the body balances
itself as the woman's body heals.
Gonadotropin is also one of the important hormones necessary for hair
growth. The follicle-stimulating hormone and the luteinizing hormone are
manufactured by the gonads, and these have a direct role in the production of
testosterone and estrogen in men and women. Moreover, these hormones also
interact with progesterone and affect the way hair grows. The gonadotropins
have an indirect role in hair growth.
Chapter 2
Abnormalities in the Hair
There are different abnormalities that attack the hair. These abnormalities
affect hair growth thereby causing hair loss. Hair infections, scaling and
itching are also infections that affect the hair.
Examples of abnormalities that affect the hair include
Folliculitis.
Ringworm (Tinea capitis).
Piedra (Trichomycosis nodularis).
Demodex folliculorum.
Seborrheic dermatitis.
Head lice (Pediculosis capitis).
Dandruff (Seborrheic dermatitis).
Psoriasis on the scalp.
Impetigo.
Hair loss (Alopecia).
Itching.
Scaling.
Folliculitis
Folliculitis is a bacterial infection that occurs when the hair follicles become
inflamed showing a sign of acne with rings of inflammation around the
follicles.
The presence of the hair fiber is noticeable at the initial stage of this infection
but as the stage increases, there appear an outright removal of hair. As a
result, the advancement of this infection shows an extremely increased
inflammation which could cause the whole hair to fall out and subsequently
result in baldness.
This problem affects both men and women but it is most common in men
than women. This is caused by touching the scalp all the time, using very
tight headgear, shaving hair from the scalp…and more.
Ringworm (Tinea capitis)
This is a fungal infection that affects the body. Most times, it affects the scalp
and causes patches of hair loss. When it affects the scalp, it shows a pimple
appearance that results in scaly patches of baldness.
When ringworm affects the hair fibers, it causes the hair to fall out, makes it
brittle, and bald. Some of the signs associated with this infection include
redness of the scalp, inflammation of the scalp, itching in the scalp, patches
that show the appearance of a ring, and blistering.
The causes of ringworm in the scalp include skin-to-skin contact, contact
with pets carrying the fungus, the use of comb carrying the fungus…and
more.
Piedra (Trichomycosis nodularis)
This is an infection that attacks the hair fiber due to the infection of fungi.
This infection shows hard nodules on the hair fibers.
When this infection is severe, the hair fibers become weak and subsequently
fall out leading to severe and extreme hair loss.
Piedra is of two types. These types include
Black Piedra.
White Piedra.
Black Piedra occurs as a result of fungus Piedraia hortae and white Piedra
occurs as a result of fungus Trichosporon beigelii.
Seborrheic dermatitis
This type of dermatitis affects the scalp that causes scaly and inflamed skin.
The infected area becomes itchy and could also be painful when your hands
get to it.
The inflamed part is not directly on the hair follicle. When the hair follicle is
closed to the inflamed cell, the follicle can be infected. This is because the
hair follicle appreciates an inflamed environment that helps in facilitating its
growth.
This infection is not infectious in the sense that it cannot be transmitted from
person-to-person. The infection could be gotten from the skin of an
individual that has a yeast infection. This means you get the infection from
your skin.
Head lice (Pediculosis capitis)
This is an infection that affects the scalp and it can also affect the neck and
near the ear. The infestation of this lice causes intense scalp itching
The human head louse is a tiny insect that feeds on human blood. The female
louse lays eggs on the hair shaft close to the scalp, and they become tightly
attached to the hair shaft. The eggs hatch about 8–10 days later and start to
feed with any remaining adults. The eggs can stay alive for a long period on
the body, such as hairbrushes, furniture, or linens.
This infection is extremely infectious in the sense that it could be transferred
from one person to another. The lice infest an uninfected individual via the
use of a comb and other materials that act as the carrier.
Dandruff (Seborrheic dermatitis)
This is a skin infection that affects the head scalp. This infection causes
redness in the head scalp, scaly patches, and dandruff.
This infection is caused by
A yeast called Malassezia is in the oil secretion on the skin.
The irregular response of the immune system.
Some symptoms associated with this type of infection include dandruff,
patches of greasy skin, itching, and redness in the skin.
Psoriasis in the scalp
Psoriasis is an infection that affects the scalp. It does not only affect the scalp,
but it also affects the skin at the knees, elbow, and other body parts.
This infection is common among people with chronic plaque psoriasis. It is
autoimmune infections that sometimes look like dandruff.
Some symptoms associated with this infection include
Dryness.
Bleeding or temporary hair loss from scratching or removing the
plaques on the scalp.
Flaking that looks a lot like dandruff.
Itching, burning, or discomfort.
Reddish patches.
Silvery-like scales.
Impetigo
This is a contagious infection caused by bacteria that affects children.
Bacterial that enters damaged skin causes infection in children.
This infection affects the scalp, face, mouth, and other body regions. This
infection possesses the ability to migrate to other body regions especially if
the area is broken.
This infection could be transferred from one person to another or contracted
via a covering of sores. It causes red sores on the skin that result in itching
and pains.
Hair loss (Alopecia)
Hair loss is a problem of the hair that affects both men and women. This
problem may occur as a result of many factors.
Ultimately, an individual is meant to have some amount of hair falling out
but when it is in excess, it poses problems that could result in baldness.
Individuals whose hair falls out abnormally may have it inherited from
his/her family. Hence, in males, baldness is the most common cause of hair
loss, showing a declining hairline and baldness on the top of the head.
On the other hand, in women, baldness occurs in a form that makes the hair
appears thin over the entire scalp. Rapid and short-term loss of a large
amount of hair may be associated with the stress of an illness or recent
episode of child delivery.
Furthermore, Alopecia causes hair loss in small, round patches and at the
hairline. An individual who has underlining illness or illnesses such as
malnutrition, diabetes, lupus…and more may cause the hair to fall out
extremely.
Regularly Hair loss occurs in every sufferer using chemotherapy to treat
breast cancer.
Chapter 3
The Factors Necessary for Hair Growth
These are several factors responsible for hair growth.
Nutrition.
Genetic factors.
Hormones.
Age.
Diet.
Exercise.
Rest and sleep.
Climate.
Prevent Stress.
Hair and scalp health.
Cultivate a good Lifestyle.
Nutrition
Achieving good hair and prevent hair loss is very essential. Good nutrition
helps in hair growth and individuals that are healthy practice the intake of a
nutritious meal.
Good hair nutrition is an important aspect of any fighting hair loss. Before
you engage in the intake of any medication for hair growth, you have to
consider the intake of nutritious foods.
To enjoy healthy hair growth, you need to engage in the intake of a balanced
diet that helps in the protection and the promotion of thick and fast hair
growth.
These are nutrients that can help in the improvement of hair growth.
Vitamins (B12, B5, B1, B2, folic acid, biotin, Vitamin C, Vitamin E,
beta-carotene).
Min erals (magnesium, sulfur, silica, and zinc).
Amino acids.
Antioxidant.
Trace element.
Polyunsaturated fatty acids.
Vitamins
The human hair reflects and shows how much vitamins are embedded in his
daily diets. When vitamins are deficient in a diet, it makes hair brittle and
falls out.
Some vitamins, minerals, and amino acids are essential to the metabolic
pathways involved in keratin protein (hair) breakdown resulting in hair loss
and considerable degradation of hair health.
Vitamin B1, B2, and niacin: These Vitamins help in making the body
nourish and help in the improvement of hair growth. The deficiency of these
vitamins makes the hair follicles malnourished.
Vitamin B5: provides strength for the hair and also helps in the prevention of
hair loss. Hence, enough amount of vitamin B5 in diets helps in the stability
of the hair and hair growth.
Vitamin B6: This vitamin helps in the prevention of dandruff thereby
preventing hair loss, knowing the fact that dandruff contributes to hair loss.
Vitamin B12: This vitamin helps in the prevention of hair loss.
Biotin (Vitamin H): Biotin is also known as a water-soluble Vitamin B7, B8,
or Vitamine H; it is very essential for the growth of hair. When this vitamin is
deficient in the bod, it brings about undernourished hair follicle cells. It is
reported that biotin is one of the most important nutrients for preserving hair
strength, texture, and function.
Beta-carotene: This vitamin is an essential compound that helps in
improving hair health.
Folic acid: the absence of folic acid in the body encourage graying of hair.
When folic acid is in a reduced amount in the body, it contributes to the
reduction in hair-follicle cell division.
Vitamin C: Vitamin C helps in the manufacture and preservation of the hair
follicle. It is a stron g antioxidant and protects both the cells found within
follicles and cells in nearby blood vessels.
Vitamin E: This vitamin assists in the maintenance of the hair follicle
membrane and helps in the provision of stability to the hair. It is also known
that vitamin E is a strong antioxidant that helps in the improvement of
healthy hair.
Minerals
Minerals such as magnesium, sulfur, silica, and zinc are very essential in the
improvement of hair health and overall human health.
Amino acids
Some amino acids help in the improvement of hair health. Examples of these
amino acids include L-Lysine, L-Methionine, and L-Cysteine.
Diets rich in L-Lysine help in hindering and preventing male pattern
baldness. L-Cysteine helps in supporting hair and providing strength via the
provision of sulfur. Skin, nails, and hair are high in L-Cysteine. The
deficiency of L-Cysteine in the body increases hair loss.
Also, L-Methionine is regarded as an amino acid that contains an increased
amount of sulfur which helps in supporting hair strength by providing
adequate amounts of sulfur to hair cells. When sulfur is an insufficient
amount, it promotes hair growth.
Antioxidant
Substantial numbers of vitamins contain antioxidant which helps in
improving the overall health of an individual. Vitamins A, C, and E are
loaded with antioxidants.
Trace element
Calcium, iron, and iodine are a good example of a trace element that helps in
hair growth and improvement of hair health.
Calcium presence in the body helps the stimulation of cell mediator that
behaves as cell membrane phospholipids in hair follicle cells.
Iron presence in the body helps in improving the hair follicles.
Polyunsaturated fatty acids
This fatty acid is essential in helping the cell structure, prevents
inflammation, and improves immunity. It is reported that polyunsaturated
fatty acids help in reducing dry and scaly skin.
Essential fatty acid deficiency causes a drying-up of the scalp and skin. These
are vital nutrients that support follicular health. When the follicle is not
healthy, hair loss or thinning occurs.
Genetic Factors
The genetic factor is also an important factor to consider when trying to
achieve healthy hair. Your gene does not only determine the color of your
hair, but it also determines your hair growth.
Some families’ genes are prone to experiencing hair loss. The gene
responsible for hair loss is known as dihydrotestosterone which starts
shrinking of the hair follicles. The hair follicles gradually become thinner and
subsequently prevent the hair follicle to stop production of hair.
Therefore, you have to be aware that most members of your family have the
problem of hair loss to know how to engage in the intake of diets
and supplements that prevents hair loss and improves hair growth.
Hormones
Some hormones are very essential in improving hair health and facilitating
hair growth. Pregnant women experience increased hair growth because of
high secretion of the hormone estrogen.
Age Condition
Individuals that are aged have the utmost tendency to experience hair loss.
There is little or no solution to this. Even with outstanding nutrition, the
genetic blueprint is eventually going to take control, and hair may change in
color, structure, and density. However, individuals of a young age group
experience substantial hair growth, especially at the middle age.
Balanced Diet
The hair follicles obtain nutrients from the bloodstream. Hence, the intake of
a healthy diet helps boost hair growth faster and stop hair loss.
In order to achieve good hair health, have the habit of eating foods that are
rich in vitamins, minerals, proteins, and essential food substituents that
are nutritious.
Adequate Exercise
A healthy and active lifestyle helps in the improvement of your blood
circulation more effectively. When exercise, sweat from scalp clears hair
follicles that are clogged, thereby providing more space for hair growth.
Blood flow also brings more oxygen and nutrients to hair follicles. Therefore,
your hair follicles are better nourished.
What are the Causes of Hair Loss?
The following are the factor that causes hair loss:
Hereditary (family history).
Changes in Hormones.
Stress.
Anagen effluvium.
Medication.
Alopecia areata.
Pregnancy.
Exposure to Radiation
Time.
Nutritional deficiency.
Traction alopecia.
Scalp infection.
Scalp psoriasis.
Tight hairstyle.
Symptoms of Hair Loss
The symptoms of hair loss include
Unexpected loosening of the hair.
Patchy bald spots.
Thinning on the head.
Patches over the scalp.
Balding.
Swelling, redness, and sores.
Itching on the scalp.
Burning on the scalp.

About Doctor Sebi
Dr. Sebi is known as a renowned herbalist who has cured various individuals
suffering from several diseases such as herpes, Aids, Cancer, hair loss,
fibroid, high blood pressure, drug addiction, body pain…and many others.
All Dr. Sebi’s diets and herbs are very effective against one disease or the
other. Some of his herbs contain excellent detoxifying and cleansing
components.
Doctor Sebi is a Pathologist, herbalist, natural therapist, born in Honduras in
1933. He is the head of the USHA research institute in Honduras.
His studies and research on different kinds of herbs and plants have been in
existence for many decades. During his research and findings on plants and
herbs, he began to observe the plants that are effective against several
diseases and in turn use them to cure sufferers that are suffering from
depressive illness.
Doctor Sebi also obtained knowledge from his grandmother who with the
assistant of a traditional herbalist in Mexico made him obtain healing from
his depressive illnesses. These illnesses are; obesity, impotency, asthma, and
diabetes.
Doctor Sebi also discovered that many natural vegetables and fruits are
embedded with components that can revive and clean the body in the inter-
cellular and intra-cellular level.
He later focused on African plants and herbs and suggested that most plants
such as vegetables and fruits that are natural alkaline are capable of
detoxifying the body and allow the body to be in an alkaline form.
These alkaline plants perform their functions by eliminating toxic
components that are accumulated in the body and allowing important
minerals that are worn-out by the acidic level of the body to become
revitalized.

Alkaline Diets
Alkaline diets are diets that are totally free from foods that contain acids.
They are also termed as electric foods which help the body to naturally heal
itself. They are naturally found in nature and are not modified, hybridized,
and irradiated.
Alkaline foods are foods that assist in the increase of iron, copper, and other
essential vitamins and minerals that make the immune system immuno-
competent.
They are foods that make your blood to be alkaline which inhibits you from
contracting diseases and infections because many infections thrive in an
acidic medium.
Acidic Diets
Acidic foods are foods that contain high acid content and they are most times
detrimental to human health. When there is an increased amount of acid in
the body, infectious diseases find it easy to thrive, grow, and develop. Dr.
Sebi does not encourage these kinds of foods in his diet at all as they might
hinder the effectiveness of his recommended herbal products and foods. In
the above chapter, I have listed the types of foods that are forbidden in Dr.
Sebi’s diet. Those food items are examples of acidic foods.
Doctor Sebi Forbidden Diet
Doctor Sebi’s diet disregards many foods that are not natural alkaline. Most
foods you consume are highly acidic which prevents the fast healing and cure
in the body as well as hindering proper hair growth.
The following diets are forbidden in Sr. Sebi’s diets:
Corn.
Fish and Seafood.
Colors and flavors.
The meat of all kinds.
Poultry products.
