WHAT is the Chicago Course? WHAT is covered in the classes?

We believe that God’s Word is how he works in the world—through the faithful proclamation of his Word by, for, and among his A student will spend 240 hours in the classroom, 240 hours in small group practice, another 30 hours just listening to live

and convictions in expositional preaching as well as those who are considering whether this kind of ministry is for them. and 5) ministry convictions and special topics in preaching. More information about the particular classes can be found in the

The Chicago Course is available in three ways:

ƒ Full-Time: One year consisting of three eleven-week terms over one year with classes on four days per week (Monday,
Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday). Benefits: Student will complete the course at an accelerated pace with a concentrated time Portraits of Preaching (4%)

ƒ Part-Time: Two years consisting of three eleven-week terms per year with classes on two days per week (Monday and Tuesday

How Much practice is involved?

For many students, the Chicago Course will be an important step that either builds upon a seminary experience or eventually
leads to it. Our focused and intensive training in preaching and teaching will offer opportunities for practice that are simply not

Considering the convictions necessary to engage in expositional ministry—from what we believe about the Bible to what we believe
about the Church. (9 sessions)

n Genre Studies
Studying the structure, context, melodic line, and gospel connections of each Bible genre (~48 sessions total—8 sessions for each
genre: Epistles, Old Testament History, Gospels and Acts, Prophetic Literature, Wisdom Literature, and Apocalyptic Literature).

n Bible Books
Studying books with an emphasis on how to preach them (~60 sessions total—10 sessions for each book: Romans, Deuteronomy,
Acts, Isaiah, Ecclesiastes, and Daniel).

n Practice Group Sessions

Studying books of the Bible in a small group format through students presenting sermon synopses and full sermons. Over the full
Course, each student completes 344 sermon outlines (287 for discussion, 57 presented) and preaches ~50 sermons.

n Biblical Theology
Tracing biblical theological themes from Genesis to Revelation, helping to reveal the story of the Bible for preaching (~32 sessions).

n Systematic Theology
