have about the outcome.

LESSON 4: EMPLOYING
COMMUNICATIVE STYLES INTRODUCTION
As humans, we are drawn to one another. We face literally just anyone every day. Most
importantly, we interact with people, from family to relatives to strangers on the streets. Thus, we
need to be in for a clear and effective communication to create and maintain genuine
relationships and atmosphere with them. When communication is effective, it leaves the sender
and the listener both satisfied and feeling accomplished. By delivering messages clearly and
appropriately, there is no room for misunderstanding and conflict.
In this lesson, you will be able to learn and understand the different communicative styles
which will help you to value effective communication more and independently interconnect with
other people.

Hey, Zoomer! How’s your experience in the lesson 2.B? Did you have fun
playing games and nailing the activities? Well, I am proud of you no matter what.
So, this time I will bring you to another set of learning experiences where you will
be able to show the expressive, vocal and the interactive side of you.
Have you ever been stuck in a situation wherein you felt hesitant to converse with someone because you don’t
know how you should start or do it? Look at the images taken out from Tiktok duet trends. What can you say
about each picture in terms of setting/situation, people, and language? You may watch the full videos on TikTok
using the links provided below.

Let’s take out three important key terms from your previous activity. For the
first term, we have people which can be associated with the word “Tiktokers.”
Second, we have situation, which can be linked to the relationship of the people
involved in the dialogues. Lastly, the word language. What language did the
tiktokers use in each video?
Did you know that there are appropriate styles to use in communicating with others? Each style has an
appropriate use that is determined by different situations. It would certainly be inappropriate to use language
and vocabulary reserve for a boyfriend or girlfriend in talking with your classmates or teachers. Therefore, the
appropriate communicative style depends upon the people, the topic, the purpose and the location. Now, why
do we have to identify the right style in conversing with people?
Discover and learn about the different communicative styles through reading on
page 234 of your IE for EC book or watching the video lesson by scanning the QR code below.
Afterwards, answer the Activity 6 and Activity 7 on page 235-237 of your book on a 1 whole sheet of paper.
Attach your paper to this module and make sure it will not fall off. These activities are in preparation for your
learning task # 4 and 5.
RUNTIME (ACTIVITY 6&7 ON YOUR BOOK): 45 Minutes
Based on the text that you have read and the video lesson that
TASK 5: MY TAKEAWAYS you have watched, what are the 5 types of
communicative/speech styles? In bullet points, identify the
different speech styles and enumerate at least 5 situations where
we can use each style with.
In the next activity, find out if you know some formal and informal words that are
especially important in specific field or profession.

next to each scenario.
Wonderful! I am pleased that you were able to make your own conversation skits. If
you are not sure about the speech styles that you employed for the given scenarios,
you know you can always go back, re-check and refresh your learning by reading the
discussions.
PROCESSING QUESTION:
