Configure Digital Clock

This document provides instructions for configuring different types of digital clocks for NTP or PoE synchronization. It describes using a Network Management Software for easy configuration, or manually configuring the clocks using buttons and menus. The manual configuration involves setting parameters like time zone, NTP mode (unicast, multicast), and IP settings for the clock and NTP server. IP addresses, subnet masks, and gateways can be set by entering values digit-by-digit in address set mode. Once network settings are configured, clocks can also be managed via Telnet using a default password.

Digital clock for NTP - how to configure

Issue
Question:
How can a digital clock from type NTP or PoE? be configured ?

Solution
1) You can contact our export division for an offer of our Network Management Software
MOBA-NMS. This software offers very easy administration and commissioning of all
network devices (analog and digital NTP clocks) as well as network master clocks and
timeservers.

2) If no software should be used, you have to use the two buttons on the top of the case
and do the following steps:
- press right button longer than 3 sec for entering the menu
- press left button shortly to select the menus (P0, P1, P2 …)
- press right button shortly to change the parameters

DC clocks:
Check in DC manual chapter 5 (page 28) for the different menus.
Do the following settings:
- P0 = A
- P1 = 24
- P2 = according your requirements, see manual
- P3 = A
- P4 = A
- P5 = not used
- P6 = 0 (off)
- P7 = select your local time according the time zone table chapter 15
- P8 = do not change
- P9 = do not change
- P10 = according your requirements
- P11 = according your requirements
- P12 = according your requirements
- P13 – 18 = not used
- P19 = 3 for NTP Unicast with DHCP server
-- P19 = 2 for NTP Unicast with manual IP setting (see P20 to P22 for Network
parameter settings and P24 for NTP server IP address)
-- P19 = 1 for NTP Multicast (see P23 for Multicast group address)
- P24 = NTP server IP address in Unicast mode (a, b, c, d)
-- P24 last number corresponds to the Poll intervall, default value is 10 seconds.

If the defined NTP server is available, the clock should be synchronized within several
seconds.

ECO-DC clocks:
Check in ECO-DC manual chapter 6 (page 16) for the different menus.
Do the following settings:
- P0 = A
- P1 = 24
- P2 = according your requirements, see manual
- P3 = A
- P4 = A
- P5 = 0 (off)
- P6 = select your local time according the time zone table chapter 8
- P7 = 3 for NTP Unicast with DHCP server
-- P7 = 2 for NTP Unicast with manual IP setting (see P20 to P22 for Network parameter
settings and P24 for NTP server IP address)
-- P7 = 1 for NTP Multicast (see P11 for Multicast group address)
- P8 = IP address (for P7 = 2)
- P9 = Subnet mask (For P7 = 2)
- P10 = Gateway (For P7 = 2)
- P11 = Multicast address (For P7 = 1)
- P12 = NTP server IP address in Unicast mode (a, b, c, d)
-- P12 last number corresponds to the Poll intervall, default value is 10 seconds.

To set IP-Address, Subnet-Mask and Gateway in ECO-DC do the following steps:

- press Left button shortly several times to select P8
- press Left button longer than 3 sec. to enter "address set mode" => A000 is displayed,
first 0 is flashing
- press right button shortly to select value of first number of first octet of the IP address,
e.g. A100
- press left button shortly to select second number
- press right button shortly to select value of second number of first octet of the IP
address, e.g. A190
- continue this way for third number of first octet and for the other 3 octets of the IP
address

- press Left button longer than 3 sec. to leave the IP set menu

The same procedure is used to set the Subnet mask (P9) and the Gateway (P10) and
for NTP server address in P12.
Please check the correct IP setting with ping.

If the defined NTP server is available, the clock should be synchronized within several
seconds.

3) Once network parameters are set, the clocks can be configured via Telnet (see
manual).
The default password for the Telnet connection is 718084 (for DC, ECO-DC, DA, DK,
DSC clocks with NTP synchronization.
