Check Delivery
Your Grain Bin is made up of many parts and checked carefully at the time of shipment. Save all paperwork and
documentation. Use the packing slip and check your shipment on arrival to be sure it is complete. Inspect for
damage. If any components are missing or damaged in transit, a claim should be filed or the issue reported to the
carrier as soon as possible.
IMPORTANT! How to control “Wet Storage Stain” (RUST!) on galvanized Body Sheets: Do
not permit moisture from weather, condensation, or other sources to remain
between Body Sheets. If moisture is present, separate the Sheets
IMMEDIATELY for good air circulation. Where possible, store all Bin
components in a warm, dry place away from contaminants such as fertilizer,
chemicals and road salt. If this is not done, white/red rust will appear.
The paper cover on the BROCK® Decal helps prevent damage to the Decal during Grain Bin
construction. However, it may be difficult to remove if left in direct sunlight for several hours.

Definition of Dry, Free-flowing Grain:

The natural angle the Grain or bulk material will form (between the surface where it is
placed and the incline face of the conical shape) is the angle of repose for such
materials. CEMA Standard 550 provides expanded definitions and testing procedures
used to determine the angle of repose for many different bulk materials. CEMA and
ASABE also provide a list of predefined common bulk materials where industry
standards are referenced.
BROCK® Grain Bins are designed for Free-flowing Grain. Grain is Free-flowing if
the material when poured onto a flat surface will flow in a consistent uniform stream.
The content will pile or form a conical shape with the angle of repose consistent with
the values stated in CEMA (Examples: typically 21° angle for dry corn and 25° for
soybeans). Flowability, a calculation to determine how Grain flows, provides a
computational approach to this measurement. If flowability values are greater than 4
and less than 10, they are considered to be Free-flowing granular material. (Reference
CEMA Standard 550 for further definition and method of calculation.)

SAFETY

Electrical SAFETY
Important consideration should be given to some or all of the following devices and
to others which may be appropriate:
1. Overload protection devices such as shear pins, torque limiters, zero speed
switches, etc., to shut off and lock out power whenever operation of equipment
is stopped as a result of excessive material, foreign objects, excessively large
lumps, etc.
2. Safety shut-off switch with power lockout provisions at auger drive
3. Emergency stop switches readily accessible wherever required
4. Electrical interlocking to shut down the feeding auger whenever a receiving
auger stops
5. Signal devices to warn personnel of possible startup of auger, especially if
started from another location
6. Special enclosures for motors and controls for hazardous atmospheric conditions
In selecting electrical control equipment to be used with any installation, the purchaser
must use equipment conforming to the National Electrical Code, the National Electrical
Safety Code and other applicable local or national codes or regulations.

Figure 3.
Electrical DANGER Decal

DANGER! Carefully unload trucks. Manage WEIGHTS adequately.

DO NOT overload the forklift or crane beyond its maximum rated weight
capacity. Stay clear of electrical lines. Failure to follow this instruction
could lead to death and/or serious injury and/or equipment damage.
WARNING! All electrical equipment and machinery must conform to applicable codes
and be operated in a safe and proper manner by qualified operators.

Plan Safe Routes for Power, Augers and Doors

Before confirming the bin site or pouring the foundation, coordinate with your local
utilities for the most effective and safe route(s) of construction clearance and
placement of your Grain Bin system with available power and gas lines. This is
critical for overall safety, and could save costly corrections later. They can determine
if any adjustments in their lines will be necessary to accommodate the increase in
load the bin and system accessories will make on the current wiring.
Grain bin placement must adhere to multiple sets of codes. In the U.S., the National
Electrical Safety Code (NESC) applies to the primary electrical supply equipment
and wires ahead of the transformer serving the farm site. The National Electrical
Code (NEC) applies to the electric wiring from the meter to the loads at equipment
and buildings.
Your utility may refuse service to any Grain Bin built near an existing electric line
that does not provide clearances required by the most current National Electrical
Safety Code and state and local codes. Rules for electrical clearance are based on the
assumption that a farming operation will expand. As of this printing the NESC has
established 18' [5 486] minimum between power lines and the top of new structures
or the highest bin port. Contact your local electrical inspector for an update on these

Safety Hazards and Recommendations
Twelve Points That Could Save Your Life
The information below and on the next page is often reprinted in some form by the media
when an accident occurs. But such reprints are not deterring unsafe bin entries that are
leading to entrapments. Fatalities are still occurring. Remember to always follow national
and locally developed guidelines (OSHA in the U.S.) and applicable sections—at least
those listed—for safe Grain system operation.

 1. Never enter a bin of flowing Grain—when loading or unloading equipment is

running, whether or not Grain is flowing or stopped; you can be engulfed if and when
the flow resumes. See Figure 7, left. Moving Grain creates a suction that can pull a
worker in within seconds. Never enter a bin that has automatic unloading equipment
without locking out the control panel/circuit and any other power that may start
Figure 7. the equipment.
2. Always be cautious when you are working with Grain that is not in good condition.
3. Never enter a bin that you do not know the nature of previous Grain removal, especially
if there is any vertical or horizontal crusting or bridging evident. See Figure 8, left.
There may be blocked flow, toxic molds, empty cavities, cave-offs, or any combination
of the above—which can lead to entrapment/engulfment and suffocation.
4. Prohibit entry into and do not walk on any surface crust where there is
horizontal bridging. Prohibit entry into and do not walk near any surface crust
where there is vertical bridging.

10. Provide per entrant a minimum of two (2) properly equipped attendants stationed
outside the bin, whose only task is to continuously track and communicate with the
entrant in the bin, to provide assistance if necessary, and to be capable of lifting the
entrant out without entering the bin themselves. Never depend on one (1) attendant
only, either on the roof, ground, or any other remote point to whom you would shout
instructions to start or stop equipment. (Equipment noise or other sounds can block
out commands or cries for help.) A single attendant cannot go for help and maintain
preliminary aid outside, and may fall or over-exert in the haste of running to the
control point.
11. The bin entrant must be provided with a proper mask or an adequate dust-filtering
respirator when working in and around Grain handling areas. High amounts of dust
and molds could be present and are extremely dangerous. Never work in obviously
dusty-moldy Grain, or where the presence of CO2 is suspected, without a respirator
capable of filtering fine dust. Be aware that your tolerance to a given material may
be limited, and that you should not deliberately expose yourself to Grain dust on the
premise that you will not be affected at any time.
12. If another person becomes submerged in Grain, assume he is alive. Begin
rescue operations immediately by turning OFF the unloading equipment if not
already locked out, and turning ON the fan to move air into the bin, but: never
attempt a rescue by going into the bin yourself. Call 911. Always have a
rescue plan and be prepared for Grain facility emergencies by working early with
your local emergency team to get training and equipment to do the job safely.

SAFETY

Considerations That May Result in a Hazard, Damage

Your Grain Bin and/or Void Your Warranty
BROCK® Grain Bins are offered in several models for specific uses. In order to
maintain your Grain Bin and its Warranty, the appropriate type Grain Bin must be
used. Consult BROCK Grain Systems or your BROCK Dealer.
Read and understand the Owner/Operators Manual and all SAFETY Decals.
Grain Bin damage can occur due to improper construction of the Grain Bin:
1. Use all hardware specified in the instructions and make no substitutions.
2. Refer to your Foundation drawings for proper Foundation specifications.
Radial cracks in the foundation are a danger signal. The Foundation may be
growing outwardly, and will pull the Grain Bin with it. These forces can be large
enough to cause bolt damage in the vertical seams of the Grain Bin wall. It is
suggested that if cracks are present they be monitored for any changes, and
remedial action taken if needed.
3. Stiffened Grain Bins must be leveled so a vertical dimension between adjacent
Stiffeners does not exceed 1/8" [3.2]. If Stiffeners are not level, Bolts attaching
the Stiffener to the Body Sheet—as well as the vertical and horizontal seam
Bolts—may become overstressed and shear, causing Grain Bin damage.
4. If the Grain Bin has a perforated Floor on columns/Floor Supports, and those
columns fail due to improper installation, the Grain Bin can shift sideways,
causing both sidewall and roof damage.
Cables to support conveying equipment such as bucket elevators or
conveyor legs must not be attached to the Grain Bin roof or sidewalls.
To do so would cause damage to the Grain Bin. Refer to your Roof
Manual for construction of proper supports for such equipment.
WARNING! Additional loads on Grain Bin sidewalls, roofs and floors can be created
by improper drying methods.

Grain Bin damage can also occur due to improper ventilation, loading and
unloading of the Grain Bin:
1. When the Grain Bin is filled off-center;
2. When unloading is done from the Door or an off-center floor sump. Uneven wall
pressures may occur, allowing the wall to flatten directly nearest the unloading
point, and damage can be seen above and several feet to either side of this area. In
stiffened Grain Bins this damage may be seen in wall sheets nearest the unloading
point. Severe sheet seam and stiffener damage can occur, causing complete Grain
Bin damage. Internal Grain pressures change when only a few bushels of Grain
have been removed. Grain Bin damage can be caused by incorrectly unloading
even small amounts of Grain.

Planning

Choose the Grain Bin Site

Select the site of your Grain Bin with care. Planning for future expansion is of prime
consideration. The soil area for your Grain Bin(s) should be firm and well drained.
Foundations shall be appropriately designed for local soil and frost depth conditions.
Adequate Roof Support
The Approximate Working Height* Chart in your Roof Construction Manual will
be essential in planning the support of the Roof and/or Sub-Structure either by crane
or center support. Be sure your lifting equipment is adequate for the height and
weight of your particular Roof.

Placement of Components
Make a sketch and plan component placement of such things as:
Roof Stairs Manhole Panel Unloading Equipment
Roof Vents Inside and Outside Ladders Guardrail access point
Bin Sweep Filling Equipment Door in regard to Sump locations
Fans Side Discharge (outlet cannot be at a vertical seam)
Two-Ring Door (see IMPORTANT reminder on pages 23 and 39 in this Manual,
and in details specific to your Model in your Door Manual.

Adequate Tank Support During Construction:

Choosing the Proper Jacks to Lift the Tank
Jacks are used to lift the Grain Bin slowly and evenly during assembly of the wall
sheets. The Jack shown below is only a representation. Jacks should be designed
using accepted engineering practices, taking into account the dead and live loads
associated with construction.

Figure 14.
Commercial Jacks

IMPORTANT! Read carefully and follow the lifting instructions particular to your
diameter Grain Bin. Improper design or use of jacks may result in
damage to the Grain Bin and/or personal injury.
Jacks must be used on every Sheet on 42' - 156' [12 802 - 27 549] diameter
Grain Bins. At least one jack for every other Body Sheet (every Sheet is best)
for 15' [4 572] through 36' [10 973] is recommended. Jacks should be capable
of sufficient lift to allow assembly of one or two Rings per setting. Determine
the number of jacks required for the weight of the tank.

IMPORTANT! Jacks must be able to hold twice the weight of the Grain Bin. On larger
Grain Bins, hydraulic or screw jacks are recommended. Consult the
jack manufacturer for instructions.
IMPORTANT! The number of lifting jacks and brackets required is determined by factors
such as Grain Bin size, soil compaction, wind velocity, design of jacks, etc.
A 3/8'' Grade 8.2 Bin Seal Bolt has an approximate safe load of 2,240 lbs [1 016 kg]
when installed in 12-gauge material.
Keep this in mind for the adequate number and size of Bolts to support the Grain Bin
during assembly.

SAFETY Procedures During Lifting

Attach lifting brackets to the Body Sheets at Stiffeners. Bolts must be
adequate for lifting the load.
CAUTION! Do not jack the tank under windy conditions! This could result in
tank damage.

1. Be sure Jacks and cables are anchored securely.

2. Position the Top Ring Body Sheets so that Stiffeners will be at Anchor Rod
locations. Also verify locations of Roof Manhole, Ladders, Door and Side
Discharge system before starting to raise the tank.
3. Raise the Grain Bin to install the next ring. Raise the tank just enough to add one
new ring of Body Sheets. (Caulk horizontal and vertical seams. See pages 20, 24,
and 25.)
4. Start assembly of each new ring of Body Sheets on the windward side of the
tank. See Figure 15.
5. Leave all bolts loose in the new ring until all Sheets have been attached.
6. Attach Stiffeners to Body Sheets every two rings. Attach Ladders (Cages,
and Platforms).
7. Repeat Steps 3 - 4 as new rings are being added.
8. Install the Door Sheets in the second and third rings from the bottom. Install
the Door.
9. Lower the tank and secure to the foundation before leaving the job site.
10. Follow the jack manufacturer’s recommendations for capacity and operations.

Construction
Overview
Read carefully the section on Jacks (pages 17-18) and raising the Bin so that proper
equipment will be in place to lift the construction before the Top Ring is built.
STARTER Ring(s)
Construction Begins with the Top Ring of the Tank
For general Body Sheet placement, Hardware installation and Caulking for all
diameters: See the section “Assemble Top (Starter) Ring First” on page 21 in this
Manual.
For specific Body Sheet gauges and Part Numbers for
your Bin diameter, see the Charts in the Body Sheet
and Stiffener Supplement, MCB2112 (right).

Caulking Is Critical!
Wipe the Body Sheets clean where the
caulking is to be applied. Be sure to follow
caulking instructions carefully, especially
where there is a change in type of Body Sheet
from single to Double. Pages 24-25 have
additional steps for sealing heavier gauge and
Double Sheets.

Build the Roof on the Starter Ring(s)

IMPORTANT! Determine whether the Roof will be built on a a single Top Ring, or on two (2) Rings.
See page 23 for special considerations. Follow Body Sheet bolting and caulking
instructions for the first horizontal seam.
After the top ring(s) are built, consult your Roof Manual Supplement (see page 22)
to start the Roof. Roof construction procedures vary with Grain Bin diameter. The
Roof Supplement contains additional information on how to place Bin components in
relation to the Roof, including installation of Top Stiffeners and Rafter Attachment
Stiffeners. When the Roof is complete,
Lift the Roof and Top Ring(s) to Continue Construction
of Tank Walls
Return to this Manual and repeat Body Sheet bolting/caulking instructions for the
next ring down.
BROCK® Decal Sheets will be installed at the second Ring down. Quantity depends
on Bin diameter.
Lift each ring and repeat throughout the remainder of the tank. With every new ring,
refer to Supplement MCB2112 for proper Part Numbers, Stiffeners, Wind Rings and
Hardware to use as gauges change.
Accessories such as Ladders, Cages, Side Discharges, and Baffles are installed every
one or two rings as the tank is built and depending the length of the Ladder section.
Refer to your BROCK® Ladder and Cage Manual (MLD1538) and Platform Manual
(MLD2026) for proper instructions for assembly.
Instructions are shipped separately with optional Accessory items.
The Door is installed in the second and third Rings from the bottom. See pages 23
and 39 in this Manual, and your Door Supplement.
Setting and Sealing the Bin
Once the bin is completely raised and the the bottom ring is complete, you are ready
to lower the Bin onto the Foundation. See pages 41-46 in this Manual for steps and
options for sealing the Bin to the Foundation.
The Bin must be grounded. See page 40.

Body Sheet Identification

On a corner of each Sheet is a colored Sticker with the part number, gauge and
diameter printed on it. This is helpful in locating each sheet on the Body Sheet and
Stiffener Chart Supplement, MCB2112.
Heavier gauge Body Sheets are sometimes substituted for the Door Short Sheets.
As Body Sheet thicknesses increase toward the base of the tank, hole patterns and
spacing/number of rows for vertical seams may change.
Body Sheets are identified with paint on an edge near the end. The first color nearest
the end will indicate gauge and correspond with the gauge and color chart below.

Caulking Single Body Sheet Laps on All Diameters

Wipe the Body Sheets clean where the caulking is to be applied. No caulking is used
where the Roof sections attach. All Body Sheet seams are caulked with a bead of
caulking outside the line of holes. Caulk as close to holes as possible. Use plenty of
caulking. Overlap top Sheets outside of bottom Sheets.
Be sure to follow caulking instructions carefully. Use the following amount of
Caulking above the horizontal seam Bolts (Item 3) as a guideline:
Where 20- through 13-gauge Sheets will lap: use one (1) 6" [152] strip.
Where 12- through 10-gauge Sheets will lap: use two (2) 10" [254] strips built on top
of each other.
Where two 9- or 8-gauge Sheets will lap: use two (2) 14" [356] strips built on top of
each other.
Where 7, 6, and 5-gauge Sheets will lap: use one (1) 24" [610] strip, plus two (2) 12"

Build the Second (Starter) Ring Down from the Top

Lift the Top Ring(s) and Roof with jacks. See pages 18-19.
Align Stiffener holes. In Supplement MCB2112, locate the second-ring of Body Sheets, noting hardware,
Part Number, etc., as for the Top Ring (see page 22).
Align Stiffener holes in second-ring Sheets with Stiffener holes in the Top Sheet.
IMPORTANT! Odd-Ring Three-Stiffener Bins: The WALK DOOR location will be
halfway between Rafters.
Two-Stiffener and Even-Ring Three-Stiffener Bins: The Walk Door will
be immediately to the right or left of the Rafter Stiffener, depending on
the direction (clockwise or counter-clockwise) the vertical seam is
staggered from the ring above.
To determine which direction to stagger vertical seams in this Second Ring, refer to
diagrams in your LATCH-LOCK® Door Manual:
MGB1580, Doors No. 1, 2 and 3;
MCB1426, Doors No. 4, 5, 6 and 7; or
MCB1997, Door No. 8.
Adding Rings: Typical Order of Body Sheet Assembly
Refer closely to the Body Sheet and Stiffener Chart Supplement MCB2112. Note
specific seam hardware and Bolt specifications for each gauge, especially where
gauges change. As Sheet thicknesses increase toward the base of the tank, Bolts
increase in length. Body Sheet hole spacing/number of rows may change.
Along the bottom of each Top/Upper Sheet (Item 1, Figure 20) on the ring above,
caulk as shown where the two lower-ring Sheets will lap. Body Sheets on a
completed ring are caulked on the inside, below the row of horizontal Bolt holes.
While aligning Stiffener holes in the new lower ring of Body Sheets, stagger vertical
seams with the ring above.
IMPORTANT! The bottom edge of the upper Ring Sheet ALWAYS overlaps OUTSIDE
the ring of new Body Sheets being installed below.
Use a drift punch to align horizontal holes and insert Bolts, heads on the outside.
IMPORTANT! Horizontal Seams are fastened with Bin Seal Bolts and Hex Nuts. All
Bolts must be tightened from the NUT side. See page 15 for proper
Bolt torque.

Stiffeners BROCK® EVEREST® E-Series 15' - 156' Dia. Comm Grain Bin Construction (Narrow Corr.)

Stiffeners
Overview
1 BROCK® E-Series Narrow-Corrugation Commercial Grain Bins
require either two or three Stiffeners per Body Sheet.
All Narrow-Corrugation 54' - 156' Bins (and 48' Bins with
3 Structural Roofs) use an Inside Top Rafter Attachment Stiffener
for Roof and Rafter support.
2 Standard (Mid) Stiffeners are 63 31/32'' [1 625] long, span two
Body Sheet Rings, and bolt to the sidewall with 3/8'' diameter Bin
10 12 Seal Gr. 8.2 Bolts.
Figure 39 At standard Stiffener-to-Stiffener connections, a Splice Bracket
(9-54470 or 9-54471) is used at the joint. See page 32.
8 Some Bin models require “Laminated” Stiffeners, or Inserts, at
lower Mid Stiffeners. No Splice is needed to connect Inserts. See
page 33.
2
As Stiffeners/Inserts increase in gauge thickness closer to the
bottom of the Bin, longer Bolts are used.
Bottom Stiffeners are Weldments, with a base plate to anchor the
Grain Bin to the foundation.
4 Refer to the Body Sheet and Stiffener Chart Supplement
MCB2112 for the proper Part Number/paint color of Stiffeners to
continue down the Grain Bin. Each Stiffener is stamped with the
Part Number and sprayed with the corresponding color. Paint
colors are found in the Body Sheet and Stiffener Chart
Supplement.

Techniques for Hanging Stiffeners

IMPORTANT! Do NOT cut off ends of Stiffeners! This is NOT allowed. When hanging
Stiffeners, it is very important not to allow Stiffeners to slip downward
when tightening. Use the procedure shown in Figure 28.

1. Hang Stiffeners on the Grain Bin wall and insert all Bolts loosely except
the bottom Bolt.
2. Insert a large drift punch/pin in the bottom hole as shown. Lift up on it
with only enough pressure to force the Stiffener up and not enough to
elongate the hole in the Body Sheet.
3. After several Bolts have been tightened, pressure on the drift punch may
be removed.
4. It is very important that this procedure be done at the hanging of the first
row of Stiffeners and be followed throughout the entire tank assembly.
Lift the Stiffener up. Do not attach guy wires to the Stiffener.

Stiffener Intermediate Connections with a Splice

To find proper Stiffener Part Numbers for your diameter/height Bin, refer to the Body
Sheet and Stiffener Gauge Schedule Supplement MCB2112 (below left). Stiffeners
are shown within their Ring by a two-digit code which corresponds to the last two digits
of their Part Number.
Stiffeners bolt to the Grain Bin wall with 3/8'' dia. Bin Seal Gr. 8.2 Bolts, heads inside.
Use Weatherseal Washers and Flat Washers under Hex Nuts inside. Tighten all Bolts at
this time.
Below the Top Stiffeners, continue with 2-Ring Mid Stiffeners.
Finish with a 2-Ring Bottom Stiffener (page 34).
To connect Stffeners: See MCB2112 for the correct gauge Splice. Splices always use
 3/8" dia. Gr. 8.2 Bin Seal Bolts with Flange Nuts.
Everywhere this symbol (left) is used between Stiffeners, use a 12-ga. Stiffener Splice
 (9-54470) with the TRIANGULAR hole.
Everywhere this symbol (left) is used between Stiffeners, use a 10-ga. Stiffener Splice

Installing Inserts to “Laminate” Stiffeners

“Laminated”-Stiffeners are noted on Body Sheet Rings by a
Stiffener + Insert code, located below connections with the
10-gauge Splice.
Inserts, like Stiffeners, are shown by a two-digit code which
corresponds to the last two digits of the Insert Part Number.
Codes/Part Numbers will change when gauges become
heavier.
A bold horizontal line notes the horizontal seam where
Inserts begin. Use NO Splice here. Butt the upper Stiffener
bottom end (or Stiffener + Insert ends) to the Stiffener + Insert
ends below it.

Use Concrete Shims as needed. See below.
Leveling Bottom Stiffeners
1. Stiffener Base Plates must be leveled to within ± 1/8" [3.2]. Use Concrete Shims
as needed. See Figure 41.
2. Use a transit at the center of the tank to determine the highest point. Shim the
Stiffener Base Plates as necessary, checking the level at every Stiffener.
3. Caulk the entire length of the Body Sheet to the Base Angle, just below the
holes and where the Base Angle overlaps.
4. Base Angle Shims: Use one for Standard Base Angle 15' - 72' [4 572 - 21 946];
Use two for Heavy Base Angle 72' - 156' [21 946 - 47 549].

and Stiffener Chart Supplement to this Manual. Door No. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8—with
No. 8 being the most heavy-duty—will be noted with a symbol in the Ring(s) where it is
installed.
On 15' - 105' dia. models, one (1) standard Two-Ring Walk Door is installed in the
second and third Rings up from the bottom.
On 132' - 156' dia. models, one (1) One-Ring Door (standard) is installed in the second
Ring up from the bottom, and a Two-Ring Door is installed in the Second and Third Rings
up from the bottom on the opposite side of the Bin.
Three (3)-Stiffened Bins with Two-Ring Doors: See the IMPORTANT note on
page 20. The direction full Body Sheet starter Rings are staggered will determine
later Door placement in regard to Stiffeners attached to Roof Rafters (on structural
Roofs 48' and larger). This direction also determines Door Body Sheet layout.
See installation details and layout diagrams (for all the above conditions) in your
LATCH-LOCK® Door Manual Supplement below:

1. Outside Heavy Base Angle:

FULL SWEEP® Bin Anchoring System (Patent Applied for)
With the Grain Bin slightly suspended, install the FULL SWEEP® Outside Base
Angles to the bottom Body Sheets. If your Bin has a single-pass Bin Sweep, see
pages 43-44 about installing additional Anchors.
Caulk the entire length of the Base Angle to the Body Sheet, and where the Base
Angle overlaps. Then apply a heavy layer of black mastic (or Saturated Foam Sealant,
Part No. 9-44600 or Butyl Rubber Foundation Sealant 475836) to the underside of the
Base Angle. The 8 ga. Heavy Base Angle is used on 72' - 156' [21 946 - 47 549]
diameter Bins.

4. Apply Foundation Sealant to the Base Angles

Apply one of the following types of Sealant to the underside of the Outer Base Angle.
Properly installed Sealant does not require tar or other additional sealers. The bottom
of the tank must be sealed using one of these methods:
1 • Saturated Foam Sealant (9-44600), must be compressed to one-fourth of its
original thickness to provide a weather-tight seal. Any additional sealant should
be placed only on the inside of the Grain Bin. Cut the Sealant at a 45-degree
angle with wet scissors and pinch together. The Sealant will expand back to the
original cross-section. Or use:
• Butyl Rubber Foundation Sealant (475836)

Outside Heavy Base Angles
If the Bin has a single-pass Sweep, you must install additional Anchors
in the Outside Base Angle. Depending on your Bin model, some holes
may not be used.
See the next page for:
• The Chart for number of Anchors required per diameter for single-pass Bin
Sweep capability, and
• Base Angle-to-Sidewall connections.
The additional ANCHORS located in the FULL SWEEP® Base Angle should
NOT be installed UNTIL the Stiffener Anchor Rods (Figure 54, previous page)
have been installed and tightened. It is further recommended that the Base
Angle Anchors not be installed until after the Bin has been loaded the
first time.
Holes in the FULL SWEEP® Base Angle are designed for 3/4 x 5 1/2'' Anchors
(Item 9, 9-51218). Anchor Rods for the FULL SWEEP® Base Angles may be any
of the following:
