Technicolor TG588v v2 – Manual Configuration

Note: We recommend changes made to this router are performed by a computer using a Windows
operating system and connected via an Ethernet cable. Using a computer with a MAC operating
system or wireless device may cause issues and settings may no save correctly. If the router has been
previously configured using one of these devices it is best to factory reset the router before
continuing with a computer using Windows.

The following guide shows how to manually configure a Technicolor TG588v v2 router to work with
an FTTC or ADSL.

It is recommended the router is first factory reset before following this guide. This can be achieved

by holding a paperclip in the reset hole for 15 seconds, located on the rear of the unit.

Using a web browser navigate to 192.168.1.1 and click sign in.

The default username is admin and default password is admin.

Once this has been entered you will get the following prompt. It is recommended to use serial
number of the router as the new password.

Configuring for FTTC

By default the option for VDSL (FTTC) is selected and Enabled is off. Make sure Enabled is toggled
on.

Enter the username and password provided by your ISP. If configuring for VDSL/FTTC make sure
make sure MTU is set to 1492 and VLAN is enables with the ID of 101. This should be the default

Once complete click Save to finish the process. You may need to wait a few minutes for the router
to connect.

When you select the option ADSL you will get the above screen. Click on Save Connection Type.

By default the option for ADSL is selected and Enabled is off. Make sure Enabled is toggled on. You
can leave IPV6 off and Routed Type should always be set to PPPoA.

Enter the ADSL authentication Username and Password provided to you by your ISP.
The default settings for MTU (1500), ATM VP (0), ATM VC (38), and Encapsulation Type (VCMUX)
can be left as they are.

Click on Save to complete the process.

The TG588v v2 has now been configured. Please allow a few minutes for the router to try and
connect with the new settings.
